I think this is the largest surrender of Baluch militants since the 2000s. Overall the number is definitely well above 1500 which is huge. As days go by those that are hiding in mountains unable to fight, getting picked out one by one not only by the FC but also by their own rival gangs and plus everyday they see their exiled beggars beg states for money as they live lavish lives holding ten men marches every month or so plus they are shunned and are also being hunted by many tribes which see them as enemies. The war weariness is creeping in and never forget the atrocities they have inflicted upon their own people.

@Well.wisher i think this us a great opportunity to end this saga once and for all. Provide jobs at ground level and necessities. Also provide road and internet ( never ever underestimate this combo. It can change one's life. ) plus development so that this can end.

Indeed. There were many factors that led to this and I think the worst was the fact that the militants started targeting their own people. A fine nationalist cause where you kill, pillage and rape your own nation. This dissuaded many tribes who saw this struggle as mere anarchy attempt by anarchist in thirst of power. I have often stated and I will state again that the beat way and most effective way to defeat militancy and insurgency is to have local populace fight alongside you. The Lashkar's of FATA and the tribes of Baluchistan fought with Pakistan army helping them weed out the miscreants. Such was its effectiveness in Baluchistan that the miscreants ran to mountains to secure and hide themselves. Demoralized and defeated. With all of this a foolish thing happened. The Indian media and politicians went crazy and started shouting Baluchistan and the exiled beggars started begging for asylum. For those hiding in mountains having faced hardships in war saw that those that are exiled simply do not care and the fact that foreign powers only want to use them to spread anarchy. With this surrenders began... This is no mean feat nor it's to he taken lightly the aspect of making an enemy surrender. Hopefully with CPEC and the investments of federal SBD provincial govt the province of Baluchistan will see uplift which will end this saga once and for all. Right now the foolish struggle separation is only found on social media and I believe that's where it will remain.

The fact that open Indian involvement would be extremely detrimental to the movement was not an unknown secret. I remember reading a dawn article in 2015 about hyrbyair marri who vehemently denied seeking assistance or ever will seek assistance from India. He had some understanding about the negative nature, the support of a foreign power would bring.

Anyhow in the end its only in the dreams of our neighbors whereas the exiled beggars only want their weekly pay cheque.

So, for now, we have to count these mass surrenders as "wins" for those who argue that Pakistan's civilian leadership can be more effective at directing the fight against than Pakistan's military because the civilians can advance and implement appealing political solutions that are outside the military's competence and remit: when suppressing gnats honey is more effective than sledgehammers.
