Mapping the World’s Forests: How Green is Your Country and Our Globe?

In Java island (the most populated island in Indonesia/half of Indonesian people live in this Island), the most green city we have is Banyuwangi in East Java.

Kudos to Indonesia for living in harmony with the land (and the wildife).

The US in its early history clear-cutted huge swaths of forests for farming. With the advent of refrigeration we could move our farmlands to the best areas of the country and replant all our forests and bring the beauty back.

Now we see this from the air across our state as we replanted the forests.

Nice, no doubt since US has huge land mass.

Also when we put the highways in they made sure to plant trees on the edges. Sometimes they planted trees in the median areas between the opposing lanes of traffic so thick you can't see the other side.

There is forest near the city that look like Africa

Common cities look in densely populated Java Island

Solo, Central Java

Semarang, Central Java

What is the look outside cities in Java Island ? This is in Bogor which is still in part of Greater Jakarta region.

Padang, West Sumatra capital city (Sumatra Island)

Java and Bangladesh have similar population densities. Both are very densely populated. But Java doesn't look overpopulated when we see it's landscape. Houses are mostly detached, single storied with wide open spaces between them, outside of human dwellings, large tracts of rice fields, forests can be seen. Not to mention, Java is a fertile, volcanic island with a significant percentage of it's land is mountainous. So population pressure on fertile, flat land should be even more. But it does not look overpopulated. On the other hand, 90 percent of Bangladesh is flat, fertile land, not much forest or other types of unused land. Almost the entire country is suitable for settlement and farming. Yet it looks very overpopulated, especially the major cities. Bangladesh gives a very overpopulated impression.

BD should promote its country side and rural areas.

The reason I show it because there is Indian in other forum saying Indonesia cannot be developed further because it lacks of land.

Many world maps show Java Island and Indonesia smaller than it should be.

Our population is relatively healty at 2.1 fertility rate with rapid urbanization. Indonesian people dont like to live in aparrment, the culture is pushing people to live in houses. In one side it sucks lot of land within cities, but it other hand it is saving lot of live since Indonesians live within areas with many mountains. Last night there is major Earth Quake in Sumatra with 7 Ricter Scale but AlhamduliLLAH there is no casualties.
