Hmm. That doesn's seem to jive with the following:

If the area shown by the following map is all "swamps" then I must say India has a LOT of swamps...

Trains held hostage... Banks shut down due to Maoist threats... The map above shows their area of influence bordering Hyderabad and Bangalore... I don't know how you conclude the above.

Thank you for the honorific title and respect.

Ok. Then why is the movement growing?

Maoists growing stronger, waging war of the mind: CRPF chief (Interview)

The TTP has been dismantled by Pakistan Army action over just a few months. In contrast, the Maoist threat and area of influence continues to grow... but yes, I agree that the Maoists are not receiving sophisticated weapons and foreign financial assistance like the TTP is/was.

However, here is what your Home Sec. says:

He called the rebels "highly motivated" and said they "operate like a well-trained army."

AFP: Maoists aim to topple India by 2050: minister

Really? These are your Home Sec's views:

"We have a long, bloody war ahead,"

"It's quite likely violence will go up in 2010 or 2011,"

Security operations "have not hit even five percent of their hardcore militants,"

“They (Maoists) are working under a plan. They have capacity to bring many sections of the Indian economy to its knees."

TechLahore,

This is an Indian problem and India will deal with this. It is none of your business and thanks for showing your concern.

If the Indian Military wanted, it could have eliminated these Maoists within a week but fact remains that these Maoists are Indian civilians and unlike some other countries, especially those in our neighborhood, India will not go around massacring its own civilians.

And about the "overthrowing govt by 2050" remark

I think it is just a Government of India strategy to build a national consensus against the Maosits. Seems to be working.

.
Then if it is a indian problem, and its none of are bussiness, then you Indians have no right to comment on are internal problem, as you take pleasure in doing so.

.
if its india's problem then why do we have an indian section on this forum. or what are indians doing here as this is a pakistani forum

a really bad way to go about things. its a discussion forum and everyone has a right to discuss any issue while remaining in one's limit which apply equally to everyone.

Furthermore, these guys can't harm the economy, our economic centers are thousands of kilometers away, do you realize that the Maoists have been around for decades? We're still growing aren't we? The maoists are becoming a problem, but the state has already taken action against them and they are more or less contained. India's size has its advantages, a little instability here or there usually isn't enough to derail the economy as is the case with Pakistan.

Maoists can hurt India's best laid economic growth plans, according to Reuters. While the economic impact may be small compared with India's trillion dollar economy in the short term, the insurgency and the sense that it is worsening creates a sense that India does not fully control its own territory and adds to risks for companies mulling investments. The Indian government has now offered to suspend all contracts with mining companies in central and eastern parts of the country in a bid to persuade the rebels to lay down their weapons. Violence in Lalgarh has worried the country's third-largest steel producer, JSW Steel, which is setting up a $7-billion, 10-million ton steel plant in the area. India also depends heavily on coal for its energy needs, and about 20-25% of Indian coal mining is affected by the ongoing Maoists insurgency, according to Asia Times.

I second you, by indian argument, no need to have an indian section and no need to allow indians pass comments on other countries' internal issues in a Pakistan Defense forum.

Ha! My point wasn't that non-Indians don't have the "right" to discuss India's internal problems. Sure you have! It's a free country!... uhm, at least India is.

My point was specifically in reply to the concerned member. I just wanted to tell him that Indians are well aware of the seriousness of the issue and there is no point in posting those maps again and again. That's all.

---EDIT---

And besides, posting those maps doesn't prove anything. That map very well shows that the areas affected by Maoist activity are the most sparsely populated and impoverished areas of India. None of the major economic centers of India are even remotely influenced by Maoist activity.

Oh please! Spare us of your illogical conclusions.

It was my argument. Refer to it as Ingis' argument. Stop generalizing like you always do.

Maoist in India is definitely Indian problem, I dont know how any body can deny that.. But still I fail to understand how you could relate it to Indian section and Indians on PDF forums. If anybody has problems with Indians on PDF forum it should be raised at appropriate level.

Discussion about any topic is very much welcomed and Maoist problem is very well acknowledged by our PM as well. But people here are trying hard to defend a stupid claim by Maoist leader that they can overthrow the govt by 2050. One can only laugh at such empty tall claims. Also note, these claims started appearing once top maoist leadership arrests are made on a daily basis. They know where they stand and it indeed is a desperate attempt by Maoist leadership to publicise the issue.

Indian govt is taking appropriate steps to counter Maoist threat. Govt is working on economic devlopment in Maoist infected areas and CRPF and police are there to keep a check on Maoists activities. So instead of military action India is attacking the back-bone of Maoists problem that is economic development and education of poor people. This has scared the leadership so much that they are forced to appear and make tall claims on Indian media on a daily basis.

It;s funny to see one day they make attempts for truce and then on the drop of hat make some tall claim.. clearly shows how badly they are pushed to corner.

People can believe what ever they want to believe and produce 10 more maps to support their POV but point to note is that this matter is of top priority for Indian govt and time will tell what's gonna happen tomorrow. so chill out and Thanks for the concern..

Maoisit movements are a temporary event that will fade gradually when the development reflects to rural poor sessions, which wont be long.
Otherwise nobody expects the maoists who comes around 30,000-40000 in numbers will affect a population of 1,139,964,932 in the country .

@jbond197

its to do with indian section if pakistanis are not allowed to india related threads.
and TechLahore was trying to prove his point using international media against the argument of moist being confined to 'swamps'. and his way of debating is very much justified. but all ingis had to say was 'its none of your business'.

Chidambaram is doing a great job in dealing with the Maoists. A solution will be out soon. His threat of use of force has already scared them. But ideally he doesnt want to use force and kill Indians using Indian Army. I think talks will be held. Back channels are surely working OT as phone numbers were exchanged. On the face of it nothing is coming out. But the Maoists need to save face and will work out an exit strategy.

If nothing comes out of it, IA will move in along with the use of Air power if required.

The REDS are nearing their end..... That is for sure. The only thing that is stopping the central government is the regional political parties. The recently arrested rebel confessed that one party provided them arms during Lalgargh incident. That map is showing very old one ..... There is no activity in AP at least for now....(thanks to the Greyhound commando). And I can assure U there is Absolute no activity In Tamil nadu sir.( Please acknowledge us.... We live here we tend to have certain idea about the area.) Thanks regards
