It is legally a crime to leave Islam in Pakistan - punishable by death should the Judge so decide.

False. There are 48 Muslim majority countries in the world. Only 19 of them consider apostasy a crime.

And they shouldn't, as per Islam. You think I am kidding somebody? The Quran is the absolute highest authority in Islam and in my previous post I quoted what it says:

"Say (Muhammad it is) truth from the Lord of all. Whosoever will, let him believe, and whosoever will, LET him disbelieve." [18:29]

''There is no compulsion in religion. The right direction is here forth distinct from error..." [2:256]

"Those who believe, then reject Faith, then believe (again) and again reject Faith, go on increasing in Unbelief--G'd will not forgive them nor guide them on the Way." [4:137]

Any other hadith, saying or bearded man contradicting the Quran have absolutely no authority.

Also, do not forget that not everything Muslims do is part of Islam. I can safely say that over 100 Million Muslims eat Biryani. Does that make eating Biryani Islam? No, it does not. You must understand the fact that not everything people do is in compliance with their religion.

Apostasy is a crime in 23 out of 49 Muslim majority countries. That is almost half the Muslim countries in the world.
And those who do have this law clearly say that this is a requirement of Islam - an veritable Army of Ulemas of each country who have devoted their life to studying Islam back this.

This is not to mention that Saudi Arabia, the country where Islam was founded also has Apostasy laws in which death is awarded to those who leave Islam. And forgive us - but we do believe that Saudi Arabia would know Islam better than others and their Ulemas more qualified.

There is no prescribed punishment for apostasy in Islam. Quran is clear Allah will deal with people on judgement day.
