Manmohan & Hu Jintao declare 2012 as year of India-China friendship

PM Singh panicked when J-10 air strike exercises were conducted in Tibet because Red Fort would be one of the targets, so he decided to soften his position, even against hawks in the indian ruling class. But Modi would probably change the policy back to confrontation.

Words are fine but can we make it something concrete? I hope so. But it won't be an easy ride. It would be easier for China, they don't have to bother about placating hostile public opinion. But for Govt. of India with hostile media and public opinion it would not be easy at all. I for one is all for close relation with China.

Sure they do. If the government declared "we will allow Japan to build a military base in Nanjing and UK to build a military base in HK" what do you think is going to happen? The government is so careful about public opinion, they do not even cut down trees in Nanjing to make room for subways.

Hmmm
China isn't very far away from the US.
But don't count the Japanese as Asians. They are more in the Americas[ not geographically].

The world is large enough for peaceful rise of both India and China. The economic centre of gravity is shifting eastwords and these countries will surely handle this mantle

Typical of Munni.. can't have the guts to talk so what's the best solution? Fall at Maino's feet, mug up some words and blurt it out.
