Mangalore college bans burqa in class

There already are many colleges opened by Muslims for Muslims in India.

As for Burkha, I really doubt if it is compulsory. I have many muslim female friends who do not wear a burkha or even cover their head. They are very modern in their dress as in their attitude.

It's not mandatory, but it is allowed in Islam to cover your face. If the girls want to do it, all the power to them.

.
Why?

I hope an Indian Muslim starts opening up colleges for Muslim females, that can wear burkha if they choose to.

There are plenty of madrasas for men and women alike throughout India as well as private institutionalized colleges.

The media is confusing the situation.

The "ban" is only on wearing the Niqab or face covering. The college has a uniform and all students wear the uniform. HOwever, Muslim girls can and do still wear the hijab or the headscarf as provided by the college regulations. This is what is followed in most colleges and schools including this particular Mangalore college.
Wearing Niqab is not cumpolsory or mandated in Islam. So if you want to wera Niqab, you can do it outside class. Only covering the hair is required.

There were a few colleges were this problem happened last year. However later the issue was resolved when the Shawl or dupatta that was provided as part of school uniform was accepted to be used as a head scarf.

And wearing a head scarf should not be a problem. It can be from a colour as part of the uniform. We have sikh students who wear a turban or a head covering so anyone opposing a head scarf for Muslim girls would be being a hypocrite if he doesn't oppose sikh students removing their head covering as well.

What do you expect? Times of India loves to sensationalize topics like these, and this why they end up on PDF.

It is obvious that the Indians have some sort of ulterior motive to try to convert Muslims to Hinduism in their country. If this were not the case, you wouldn't have so many Indians jumping up and down on this issue. Live and let live.

It is not what is the need of veil in class it is what ALLAH has ordered them to do they are doing what ALLAH has told them to do if they are stopped they are not stopped Islam is tried to be stopped

And Allah has not ordered the remaining millions to do so???

Seriously, I am all for throwing out these outdated concepts..Do you know how much of Islamic history and teachers are manipulated to serve the cause of few? Muslim are going backward with every passing day because the Islam of today has escaped from Mosque and Quran and have started to live in female scarve and hymen.

This was the exact nuisance Turkey has fought successfully and the Shah of Iran was ousted trying to fight.

I am all for banning burqa and scarve.. extremism and terrorist breeding always starts with this damn niqab / hijab what ever you call that piece of cloth. Those who want to show their steadfastness on religion should do so by dressing modestly. These days you have girls dressed in skin tight jeans and stretch t-shirt talking about wearing scarves..yeah right...

if a country like Saudi arabia can ban burqa and hijab in educational institutions, then no wonder Pakistan, Bangladesh and India can as well..School are for scientific education. Those who want to take their religious symbolism there should find a jamaati run madrasah instead of school.

The difference between us and india now a days is the same as difference between Molana Azad and Molana Moododi...both were controversial figures but Azad gave his country an education system while Moododi gave his country Talibans and terrorists.

It's a private Catholic school. And for God/Allah's sake please don't blame them for trying to convert the Indian Muslims to Catholicism. If it were a government funded school, it would be a whole lot different.

I'm talking about your society as a whole. Not this specific incident.

People taking their religious symbols into other minority schools.. Btw you cannot wear scarve in many of the Pakistan convent schools either...so its not about living but breaking the rules...My mom studied part of her life in a convent school in Karachi and they were all made to assemble in the morning regardless of their faith. Its about discipline not commonality

And I have a cousin that attended a catholic school as well, although she was allowed to cover her head, because in Catholicism there is nothing wrong with covering of the head.

Anyways I'm on the open-minded end of the spectrum. Let them do what they want. Although I can understand that at a private school you have to follow protocol.

Hindus can converted into Muslims , Christians or Buddhists but vice versa is not possible ,so ur claim is baseless and worthless.

I will share an incident.

It so happened in my college that some gals started wearing BurKa, It was uncomfortable. Students complaint to Pincipal, Principal didn't act. So boys decided to teach him lesson.. Principal was Muslim.

Very next day 50 students in Dhotti, and naked body, came to class. Pricipal object, the protester said, If Muslim can wear there traditional dress, why dont we????

Principal understood and asked gals not to wear Burka in college. Girls use to remove the black dress be4 entering college . There was a lady room at entrance.

Burka, Dhoti, Muslims male dress (cap, ankel high pajama, beard without mustaches) were allowed only on Annual day or cultural day..
