Man of his words Kejriwal gifts Delhi 20K litres of free water, power at 50% tariff

I think now Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav facing elections next year should also take cue from AAP platform and offer free electricity and water.

What if audit fails to show supposed big margin of profit for discoms?
@JanjaWeed
Then he will get free electricity this way!!:D

A population that votes on promised freebies rather than a wealth creating economy is destined to stay poor

By above definition, all Norwegians and swedes must be poor!
Lol
Except, Norway, Sweden and the rest of the Western world rolled out such freebies for their people AFTER going through their respective industrialisation processes and becoming developed nations. India is still in the early stages of its growth story and in NO position to roll out such welfare schemes for its 1.3+ BILLION people. Even China with an economy 5 times the Indian economy is not in a position to offer such welfare to its population.

A very flawed comparison.

Anyone thinking India should be adopting Scandinavian levels of welfare for its people are either ill-informed or proposing this because they know it will bring India to its knees in WEEKS.

Khujliwal wants to live in the house currently occupied by Dr Manmohan Singh, former Prime minister of India. Whose Rajya sabha term expires in 2017, and who is expected to retire from active politics afterwards.
ARE YOU SERIOUS?

From what I read last year Dr MMS is entitled to live in that accommodation for the rest of his life and the estate has been modified for his heightened security risk level which cost quite a bit, is AK trying to make the former PM of India shift out??

Indian is quite rich, so don't worry, states can't become bankrupt unless country becomes bankrupt. :pop:
So what? Why should the rest of India support one state that is perfectly able to stand on its own two feet and balance the books. If the government in Delhi wants to play cheap populism tactics to win votes then let them live with the consequences i.e. BANKRUPTCY, why should the GoI support and reward utter failure? The GoI's funds are better spent elsewhere.

In countries with as appalling poverty as India, socialism would do much better for the welfare of the poor at least. But these people are selfish. They have been infatuated with 'GDP growth rate' and 'Superpower India' that they fail to see the hundreds of millions of poor and their abject suffering, I mean are those poor beggars on the street not human, not Indian, not their 'brothers and sisters'. It's useless talking to them.

:D
And you think the way to reduce poverty in India is to hand out freebies? Ever heard of the saying "give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will never go hungry again"? These people have to stand on their own two feet, getting dependent on handouts is not good for them or the country. Social progression does not occur because of subsidies this is utter BS. How do you think a country gains wealth? You are so quick to diminish the importance of GDP growth rates but do you even understand what that means? A larger GDP means more jobs, more capacity in an economy, more circulation of cash etc

And anyway, how do you think a government funds such handouts? You think with a growth rate of 1% India could afford to do so?

Geezus, where are all these communists coming from?

. . .
Then the subsidies will be reduced. there will be a rethink. Nothing is set in stone.
that kejru loves his ideology more than this country  read my signature ... jub begum mumtaz bano al-Bengali nahi sudhari ...... dilli toh giyo

Actually He wants to live in the house, where Shiela Dikshit lived as CM. That house is currently being occupied by MMS.
The victory has given an ego boast to khujliwal and he now thinks that he commands greater respect and security than MMS.
Both Khejriwal and his bitch Manish sisodia have demanded Type 7A level Bungalows, which are normally used by senior most cabinet members.
Sisodia wants to shift into the Bungalow once occupied by Kamal Nath, While Khejriwal wants to wait for MMS to leave his house.

I wont be surprised, if Khejriwal starts demanding the Bungalow used by Atal Bihari Vajpayee or LK Advani should either one of them die of old age.

I never thought that I would ever hate politicians more than SP and RJD leader, then came AAP with its aaptard brigade

. .
Do you know, what Jan dhan Yojna is

Its about getting people to put money in bank accounts, not give free money
Its more of a means to get money in circulation, which otherwise would be stashed by a poor farmer in a suitcase

Nobody ever accused an AAPtard of being intelligent enough to figure out what financial inclusion is.

In fact; their leader is the one that said that with the Jan Dhan Yojana, you will get money only if you die. (life insurance).

Geezus, where are all these communists coming from?

India has always had leftist tendencies. They were suppressed in the recent Lok Sabha elections but now with the AAP's win in one of India's smallest states, they're popping up again.

I don't need to say what happens in Summer in Delhi, without A/C and coolers.
Telangana has a bit milder summer than Delhi, i get 7000 rs bill for A/C and not even slums in Telangana consume less than 400 units nowadays.
How will Delhi manage it in only 500 units, They will go over it and have to pay the usual, unless they are going to take dips in Yamuna whole day to cool themselves.

New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government on Wednesday slashed power tariffs by 50 percent for consumption up to 400 units per month in Delhi.

Keeping in line with the promises made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) during election campaign, the newly-elected Delhi government also announced free 20,000 litres of water per month to every household.

Talking to reporters, Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the reduction in power tariffs will benefit 90 percent households in the capital.

"Those families using more than 400 units will have to pay the entire bill," the Deputy CM said.

"The order will come into effect from March 01," Sisodia added.

Sisodia announced that his government will waive off water and sewer charges for families using 20,000 litres of water.

The AAP leader said, the Delhi Jal Board has a helpline number (1916), which people can use to register their complaints.

Last week, Kejriwal had said that his government would cut power tariffs and launch free water scheme "very soon".

In its manifesto, AAP had promised to cut power tariffs by 50 percent immediately after coming to power and said the rates would be revised on the basis of the findings of a CAG audit which the Kejriwal government had announced during its first stint.

The previous AAP government had introduced free water scheme but it was discontinued after it quit.

The discoms had opposed the CAG scrutiny and approached the Delhi High Court, contending that the Delhi government's decision asking CAG to audit the power companies' accounts is "patently" illegal on several counts.

The Delhi CM today met Comptroller and Auditor General Shashi Kant Sharma and discussed the status of scrutiny of finances of private power distribution companies by the auditor which was ordered by the AAP government during its first stint.

Sources said Kejriwal conveyed to Sharma his government's view apropos of the CAG audit of finances of discoms and its plans to review the electricity tariff after the findings of the audit.

Simple! It is an open invitation for people to steal electricity 'more creatively' and keep their total units to less than 500 so as to get an even bigger incentive of free electricity.

When you start offering such freebies, usually you are only inviting people to misuse it. When free electricity for farmers was announced in Karnataka, the ground water level went down drastically - because the illiterate farmers used that free electricity day/night to pump water out like there is no tomorrow! Even worse - some of the farmers pumped so much water that their lands turned to unusable marshlands!

Amazing that we are going back to tried and failed politics of freebies! Even more amazing that the party full of highly educated people resorts to such politics!!

Exactly, YSR fooled people by promising 2 Rupees Per KG rice and people later found out that even a beggar wouldn't eat such 2 Rupees /KG rice.
We all know how this will end up,People of Delhi getting fooled and fleeced, unless Kejriwal plans to Instal Osmosis plants and turn seawater into fresh water.
He also has to Install a Cold Fusion reactor to generate that extra electricity(Maybe his IIT brain is onto something earth shattering discovery in fusion reactors :D).
Delhi is no Power Generating state,Its no bigger than the present day Hyderabad city.
