It does not say he has 5 wives, read carefully:

who already has 13 children by five wives................and three of his wives have died.

what the fuss about it. I dont see anything wrong here when the lady married him with her own consent.

And btw mismatched marriages in west are not a new thing then why so much hue and cry over if something happend like that in an African country or to say a Muslim country.

No doubt about that jana ji, here is my personal experience. I work for a company who supplies gas and electric in britain, I was talking to one of the my customer and he agreed the contract on principal, when he was about to sign an old lady came to the room and instrcuted my customer to wait for couple of days more, I was kinda in hurry so I asked the customer your mother might have some objection in this contract, now to my extreme surprise the guy said mind you she is my wife and I almost got fainted.

The guy was 57 and his wife was 84 years old and they have been married since last 27 years.

As per Islamic laws you can have 4 wives at a time and that is only subject to the aprrovals of your existing wives.

If it had been Haram the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) would not have married more than four times.

You can't say one can't marry someone its unconstitutional, we don't have to agree with it , I doubt anyone that old would have any sexual desires but - again its a personal choice for marrige , if someone is forced then that is wrong. The idea of forceful marrige is a issue worth debating -

Its a pretty , useless basis that couples have to be of certain age plus minus 2-3 years difference etc , most ppl in world marry who ever they are compatible because its the normal thing to say ...

But thru out history , ppl have married when they could afford the cost and headaches of marrige

My post was in reference to an individual saying this is "against Islam". Although the Islamic faith isn’t emphatically mentioned by the originator of this thread, it is the elephant in the room. Had it have been an article pertaining to a similar non-Muslim matrimony, I very much doubt that he would deem it worthy to post.

Such monkey business, in my opinion, has resulted in some Muslims developing an inferiority complex whereby they feel the need to constantly defend themselves et cetera.

The point I raised was very much valid – you don’t feel the need to defend yourself, so why do we?

I guess it does rankle me to be called a "kafir". I have given up calling people the Christian epitaph "infidel". I think people of all religions should give up labeling people of other faiths as "unbelievers". Is that possible or would that be "against" Islam? Is using the label "kafir" important to your faith?
