Indonesia right now is under a nationalist leader. Jokowi doesnt come from an Islamist party even though his government is supported by some Islamist parties. Islamist party in Indonesia right now is in divided condition. Islamist parties are in both camp, government and opposition camp.
He picks an Islamist as his running mate for 2019 election (actually his current vice president is also an Islamist (Yusuf Kalla)), but I think it is just only to get political support, not sincerely coming from the heart. So I don't expect too much. There is why Indonesia is not included in Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition under Jokowi leadership.
But, I am optimistic for future politics. It is due to our Muslim society that become more conservative from time to tome, especially after 1998 reformation where Islamist start to have freedom to spread their agenda and message through mosque, books, internet, and TV. Even a nationalist party in Indonesia support the hijab wearing in police and army where during Soeharto time was forbidden.
I hope Indonesia-Turkey-Pakistan alliance can be formed in a nearly future. We have many defense project joint venture with Turkey is due to previous government policy which is quite Islamist in nature. My suggestion is for Imran Khan to make a closer gesture to Joko Widodo. Joko Widodo will not make the first move to get closer into Pakistan as he is not an Islamist, but as Muslim Javanese he will give good feed back if Imran Khan makes the initiation attempt.
I think if Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi can make some kind of a alliance in the future, it will directly boosting the unity in OIC.
