A hospital spokesperson said Malala would be asked how she wanted donations to be spent

The Birmingham hospital where 14-year-old Pakistan schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai is being treated has set up a fund for charitable donations for her.

Malala arrived at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QE) on Monday after being shot by a Taliban gunman.

She had a bullet removed from her skull last week.

A spokesperson from the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust said more than 600 people had sent messages of support for Malala.

The teenager was targeted after campaigning for education for girls.

Malala remains in a stable condition and is responding well to her care, a QE spokesperson said.

An account within the main hospital fund of the Queen Elizabeth Birmingham Charity has been set up to support Malala.

The trust's website said: "When she is well enough we will ask her how she wants those donations to be spent in support of the care she is receiving."

A message book has been opened at Birmingham City Council and people visiting the trust's website can also leave an online message.

A vigil for Malala is due to be held by two organisations, Women2Gether and Amina Women's Group, outside Birmingham Council House in Victoria Square from 11:00 BST on Thursday.

This was agreed before sending her to Birmingham....

This fund raising campaign has nothing to do with Malala's treatment. This is a campaign started by the hospital and they will ask Malala about where she wants to spend this money after she is hopefully recovered Insha'Allah. This money is not being used for malala's treatment.

Angelina Jolie Donates $50,000 In Honor Of Wounded Pakistani Teen Malala Yousafzai

Angelina Jolie has made a $50,000 donation towards girls' education in Pakistan in the name of a teenager shot by Taliban extremists.

The Hollywood actress recently wrote an article giving her response to the attack on 14-year-old Malala Yousafzai, revealing she was horrified by the incident earlier this month which left the Pakistani schoolgirl fighting for her life in the hospital.

Yousafzai campaigned for girls' rights to education and wrote a diary about life under the Taliban for Britain's BBC, and now Jolie has thrown her support behind the issue by handing $50,000 to the Women in the World Foundation.

The money, donated through Jolie's charity initiative the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, will go towards setting up an award in Yousafzai's honor to provide funds for females fighting for education rights in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

A joint statement from Jolie and Women in the World Foundation founder Tina Brown reads, "We are sure you have been shaken by the news that last week, 14-year old Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Taliban as she left school in the Swat Valley in Pakistan. Her crime was promoting girls' education in Pakistan..."

"As a response to Malala's bravery, girls across Pakistan, Afghanistan and the world are standing up and saying, 'I am Malala' - and this is our opportunity to show the same solidarity."

Kim Azzarelli, president of the Women in the World Foundation, adds, "Ms. Jolie's Education Partnership for Children of Conflict will contribute the first $50,000 to this effort. Let's do everything we can to support these girls in securing this most basic right."

Angelina Jolie is a great Woman.
She is an angel...

Me and BlackBlood/Aeronaut once upon a time created a facebook page thanking her for the efforts she was making for better Pakistan. I don't exactly remember the exact reason but I think it was when she visited parts of Pakistan after the floods or earthquake and donated big money and personally participated in relief efforts.

We even promoted that link on PDF so yes the entire Pakistani nation is in love with Angel :smitten:

For those who know her in Pakistan, she might be the most popular American with a lot of credibility in Pakistan... as you know we Pakistanis are good in cursing other nations but in her case she was always treated like an angel :P

I always liked angelina for her beauty..But she has a heart of gold as an added extra...:smitten:

GoP is paying for her treatment. She is not getting treated by Angel's money.

and lets not talk about haram halal in this thread. If we start going in depth then very few people will be free from earning partially haram ke paise. Lets keep it for other time.
