Su30MKI has 2D TVC... has much more agility and can dominate in dogfights against any non TVC fighters,
regarding BVR again MKI shown its agility by surviving 5 Aim-120C5 on 2 MKIs by F-16s...

And India is not buying Rafale for Air2Air role its a multirole.. MKI will keep playing the air dominance role it have been subjected to.
And results will be different if instead of Mig21 Rafale was already bought by UPA years ago not MKI.

Sukhois will be the backbone of IAF for at lest 2 more decades.
Rafaels are procured to supplement and replace ageing ground attack aircraft’s of the IAF.
I do think the upgradability of Su30s will give it long service life in IAF.

IAF Chief talks about Rafale only to hasten the procurement and clear political redtapism. What IAF has in its inventory is already enough to completely dominate PAF over a prolonged skirmish. IAF did an amazing job if you consider the numerical inferiority during the OP. It is commendable that a team of inferior outdated Mig 21s and just a handful of MKI's could stop a package of 20+ PAF accomplishing their objectives. The Meteor will give IAF a complete dominance in terms of BVR and once Astra is fully integrated with MKI, there will be no holes to plug. Over the long term, economic power is all that matters because ultimately you need money to update your forces and there is a limit to how much a population will starve on the basis of patriotism.

Since, you have mentioned Rafale & Meteor, I will repeat that never underestimate the other side merely for the numbers or something too good on paper. It always depends upon tactics & training syllabus to come with counter. The word dominance was always there when IAF was shot down on that day of 27th Feb, 2019. The package did the job including bonus of 2 IAF shot down & plus a fratricide by India in panic. That is not a dominance.

Repeat a lie so often so that country men begins to believe it. So have you guys ever found why the pilot who shot down Su 30 received a lower award to the fella who downed a Mig21 (who took down a F16).
What is the logic that Pakistanis have forced themselves to believe ?
I mean think about it - IAF has published radar intercepts of F16 going down and has officially credited the kill to Abhi based on Radar, EW and Comm intercepts - no F16 wreckage found. PAK fanboys refuses to believe it. Yet on the same time - they want to believe they shot down a Su 30 without making public any evidence and wreckage being found ! Absolute farce
