Maiye ni Maiye

It is classic but I think the words are different though I think both mean the same.
Here's its translation incase you are interested
Mai Ni Main | Shah Hussain
Mai ne main kinon aakhaan,
Dard vichore da hall ni

O mother O mother, who do I tell,
this pain of separation

Dhuan dhukhay mairay murshid wala,
Jaan phoulaan taan laal ni

My Maste’rs fire smoulders,
If I poke, its red hot

Soolan mar dewani keeti,
Birhoun peya saday khayali

Driven mad with spikes,
Pain of separation fills my thoughts

Dukhan di roti, Soolaan da saalan,
Aahen da baalan baal

Bread of sadness, sauce of spikes,
Make a fire of laments

Jungle bailay phiraan
Dhoudaindi ajay na paayo lal

Wandered jungles and deserts,
But not found the ruby

Ranjhan Ranjhan phiraan dhoudaindi,
Ranjhan mairay nal

wander looking for Ranjhan Ranjhan,
But Ranjhan is with me

Kahay Hussain faqeer nimanaa,
Shoh milay taan theevan nihaal

Says Hussain the poor faqeer,
Meeting God would be ecstasy

lol :partay:

Though I'm Punjabi, I had to read the translation too of Mae ni Mae to get what he's saying, very hard Punjabi used.
Saif-ul-Malook on the other hand is like second nature, its like the translation of Islam for the common man to understand.

A friend of mine lives here in NY without papers and his mom is in Pakistan, she can't come here and he can't go back.

If anybody is without papers, they should know that they can go back any time they wish. There is no bar or check on leaving USA. Book a ticket and hop on to go meet Maiye ne Maiye.

The song is quite emotional, no doubt.

Yes it's different, but i wouldn't be surprised if Nusrat Fateh Ali took his inspiration from this one.
I like it too actually I have heard it before...and I can feel the pain the when the kinnows are sour and salan (gravy) and roti are also bad...I totally share the pain bro :(

I wish I could truly understand these wording of these kalams.. .as I know these have some sort of very deep meanings

I am not sure who wrote Nusrat's, but Shah Hussain is termed as the father of Punjabi poetry he was from 16th century.

English Translation of Shiv Kumar Batalavi’s

4

[I blow a gentle warm breathe over (the wound) to soothe the pain. O mother, the wound, instead, pounces back on me to bite.]
5

[I am a young boy/girl in a need of advice. Who will come forward to advise her?]
6

[Tell him/her to weep with lips shut tight lest the world hears him/her crying.]
7
[Ask him/her to eat the bite of separation baked by destiny on a flipped girdle.]
[Metaphorically, separation is equated with an improperly baked loaf of bread.]
8
[Lick the salty liquid oozing out of roses of sufferings to give heart courage to bear pain.]
9
Kehriyan saperiyan ton manga kunj mel di main mel di koi kunj na dave.
[Which snake keeper has a skin that does not peel off the snake’s body ? No one is giving me a skin that stays with the body forever.]
[Metaphorically, snake’s skin is equated with separation that is inevitable.]
10
Kehra ehna damman diyan lobhiyan de daran utte wang khada jogiya rahve
[Like an ascetic, who will beg at the door of the greedy people to pay such a huge price?]
11
peere ni peere pyar aisi titli hai jehdi sada sool te bahve.
[O pain, Love is like a butterfly nailed to a cross forever.]
12
pyar aisa bhaur hai ni jihde kolon vaashna vi lakhan kohan door hi rahe
[Love is such a bee from whom lechery stays a millions of miles away.]
13
pyar oh mahal hai nee jihde ch pakherooan de bajh kujh hor na rahe
[Love is a palace where no one but the souls live.]
14
[Love is such a courtyard where the bed of nuptial night is never laid.]
15
[Tell him/her not to take the names of dead friend aloud in the middle of the night.]
16
[I am afraid that after I am dead, this vicious world would label my song as evil.]

Off course translation does not do the just, cannot bring the feelings in the original song
