And why are the police not going through the same training? It's still the same force which uses long wooden sticks and damaged cricket helmets for crowed control.

police does have well trained and equipped policemen but the really good ones(commando trained) are snatched by the ruling politicians who use them as personal body guards and VIP duties (shopping runs and guarding their homes)

Police needs freedom and I hope they get it and when they do this course should be must for every PoliceMan and Police Women should be encouraged to take this course also. Also in Police Academies fighting and weapons training should be monitored and designed by LCB of Army

in all cases of Provinces almost the entire police elite personal are performing personal guard duties of the politicians and a very small fraction is available for incidents which need specialist involvement hence army is called in to deal with terrorists and robbers alike.

Sir this is only 6 week training. Politicians mostly have LCB kind of units with them this training should be must for every Pol Iceman and not every Pol Iceman is on VIP duty

In my humble opinion one of the main problem Pakistani Police faces today is physical fitness and strength of the recruit. I was really amazed at the nativity of the following article I came across:

The police recruitment in Pakistan still follows the old pattern of focus on physical fitness tests instead of competencies assessment required for selection of a constable, the basic unit of the police force.
“Those who can run fast, are eligible for the recruitment of constable of police but the others having many other qualities required for the policeman, are kicked out of the completion if he does not come in first four positions of the race during the physical test of the course of recruitment,” a member of the selection team admitted the flaws in the recruitment process.
Presently, the determination of physical fitness is made by a 1000-metre run in addition to chin ups and push ups alongside a minimum height requirement. This assessment also lack any scientific determination of fitness required to undertake a job of police officer in Pakistan.
First four participants among 100, having capacity to run summarily, are presumed fit for police service, remaining 96, regardless of their qualifications, skills, aptitude, intelligibility and other God-given extraordinary abilities, are swept out of the contest. ………..

Today our police is not only dealing with the thieves & docaits, whose aim was primarily getting hold of easy money; hurting / killing was only resorted to in case of resistance.

Contemporary foe of the current Pakistani police constable is a fully fit, battle hardened terrorist armed with deadly weapons not afraid to blow himself up for his cause. Most important police person is the ordinary constable who patrols the streets, controls the traffic and mans the check post. Constable would not be able to perform his duties unless he is at least as fit, as strong and as well armed and trained as his adversary.

The concept of mind over may be true, but argument in such articles is seriously flawed. Aptitude and courage is not enough. Too many Pakistani policemen have lost their lives. Heaven knows how many of these would still be alive if they had been appropriately armed and trained. A good policeman should have the aptitude and courage in addition to the physical fitness and training.

In my view high level of physical fitness & training should not be limited to the elite sections, training, fitness level and arms of all the constables need to be significantly improved.

I agree however looking at Pakistan's defence budget and the power it has; it's amazing what the armed forces have achieved with the money they get. Rifles are indeed old and I don't see a scope on the rifle but I didn't expect mock up villages, valleys and simulated bomb drops by air force.
If support branches of the army (just like the engineers) have to go through such training then I see no harm in the police force adapting to similar training areas. It will defiantly build confidence and moral in young police men and women.

Engineers secondary role is infantry and many infantry battalions have taken offensive ops in north west and towards the east in siachien, Kashmir and the other three wars. In the two thousand and 1 stand off, one infantry battalion forward elements were 300 metres from the border down south while the supporting counter armour combined teams were 4 km behind! Infantry personal go under the same training as infantry yet they receive additional mine clearing laying bridge building etc training too

Those Turkish upgraded Acv versions of M113 would have helped Alot in such a scenario instead of a mere less armoured tin can with a 12.7

Gives a little bit of an inside into how the military is operating... I binge watch it to be honest, doing my own work and listening to his commentary.
