Fair enough, but I don't see the relevance of Islamic studies. Maybe they could make Islamic studies an optional subject.

I mean can you imagine catholic schools in India having "christian studies" as a compulsory subject for every student?

see can't expect too much....at least they come to modern education, and hope thing will be more better in future

it is totally depend on religious leader and their vision and understanding ,that contribute a lot to shape a nation

best example is Indonesian , two major religious group ,one is mohamdia and another is NU
Mohamadia came in to picture only to counter Wahhabi , that was in 1912 , at time rest of world couldn't imagine what can be consequence of extremism,(Indonesian )
mohamadia taken strong decision ,not to participate in politics ,and still they are maintaining

mohamadia is mainly running madrassa for religious education and focusing mainly on social work
they never mix politics and religion

UN is much larger group than mohamadia,and they partially participate in politics , they are also running madrassa ,but right from the beginning their base is modern education ,and religious education is in parallel

that make Indonesian different from rest of the world , what they realize long back , which we fail to understand till date
