TATA wants to make profit. So they're phasing out six existing platforms and adding two platforms (one is already up) plus one TAMO platform.

So not a good idea to have a new design. Just build on Range Rover platform for SUV.

Brezza looking good.

General Motors aims to ramp up component exports from India

The company, which has stopped selling cars in the Indian market, recently started exporting Beat Notchback to Costa Rica.

"Apart from this addition, we also plan on expanding the component exports in 2018," a General Motors India spokesperson told .

The company currently exports body panels and engines to Vietnam and Cambodia.

"Our exports have tripled over the past year and we are very pleased with the acceptance of our products in the export markets," the official said.

Smart move!

Bigger profits too, and a large local market like no other.

Hehe ... now that Harley-Davidson's are made in India, and real Jeep's too, will Indian cops ever move on to Harley's and Jeep's from Honda's and Suzuki Gypsy's ?

Idea - Fiat may well consider reviving it's erstwhile Premier Padmini Fiat after a full-on rehab. aka VW Beetle, Mini Cooper and the new Global Fiat 500.

Its not just jeep, KTM is also manufacturing their motorcycles in India locally, all models upto 390cc and have plans to manufacture duke 790 too, may have already started.

Kolkata and Gujrat police have bought Harley street 750, albeit in small numbers, for patrolling and no new jeeps are being procured, all the new cars are mostly safari, innova or tavera.
And I don't think theres space in market for a new company or revival of old company.

Any vehicle in India using a adaptive cruise control system similar to Audi’s traffic jam assist?

Id think it would be near impossible to implement.
No. we don't have in the lower price bracket. The higher ends may have it and it's completely usable on highways where surprisingly Indians maintain lane discipline pretty well.

I think pedestrian detection would be hilarious within the city and that could never work as intended. It may overheat and die!
