GE will be given a green signal to open a Jet engine plant in India. I guess this also means that for AMCA also we will be using GE engines. I hope they build civilian jet engines too here.

Made in India is not the same as Made by India.

How long do we plan to stay behind the curve ?

you are right , but today we are not that much capable of , we should start with made in india . it will create atmosphere for that .

Don't you think that it is a shame for India after all these years despite having access to all international markets, cannot produce its own jet engines?

Let alone making the outdated Prithvi a testbed of missiles technologies.

As a historical fact, USA has never done full ToT of its turbofan engines.

Who said India is not working on own Jet engines? A country like India cannot have only one jet engine to fulfull all needs.

Kalyani is working on one (I think this will eventually become the standard)
HAL is almost ready with fully indegenous engines for Helicopters
HAL/Ada is reworking Kaveri for multiple uses like drones, they're restrting high altitude testing for combat jet engines

Prithvi is not a Jet engine it is a missile

It will kick start an Ecosystem. But we need sustained research on Engine tech. like we did for rocket engine and missile teach.

GTRE has been running a massive CON job on GoI and DRDO. India needs to fund private players R&D in this sector.

Both Kalyani and HAL are doing good work.

DRDO built Kaveri with 500 million USD budget. We don't give them money, we ask for the moon and then abuse them.

Prithvi a testbed? What are you smoking? Hash?

Kaveri is the engine
We use an illyushin test bed
We will will later uses dorner testbed soon from this year

We can't use Dornear for testing Kaveri. Either we will go back to russia or (as was proposed), acquire our own Ilyushin as test bed.

The Russians are money pinchers
We can even use a us jet for testing
No one is selling test beds that's the problem

Not excited about this make in India. India has been making this kind of make for many decades. They were Russian engines though.

Only news worthy of a headline would be “Made By India” jet engines. Engines good enough to be used in any class of aircraft.
