Yes we do punish army men without such protest also.....
Recently a army major(may be colonel) was punished for shooting a kid who was trying to steal some fruits from an army cantonment

No body is above law and that's how it works in India
We even made movies on such violations

I know you are trying to justify protests but they don't do any good
Same goes for the baloch protests as well
