Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and BAE Systems have announced a strategic review of their Indian joint venture (JV), prompted by what they have said has been a "significant evolution" in the Indian land systems market.

The two companies said on 23 January that "developments in the industry environment and in customer procurement frameworks and acquisition strategies have led the shareholders to institute a strategic review of the business".

The statement added that the strategic review will assess "any changes necessary to address the evolving market and to meet emerging customer requirements". It also said that the two companies had not made any decision on the future of the JV.

M&M and BAE Systems did not explain the reasons for the review and spokespersons from both companies did not elaborate when asked to comment on the matter by IHS Jane's .

The M&M-BAE Systems JV is named Defence Land Systems India (DLSI) and was formally established in Faridabad, near New Delhi, in 2009.

Might have to do with the recent rejection of Mahindras and Rafales JV, seems like Mahindras offer for the FICV is in doubt now.
