I am pretty sure Pakistan has acquire the upgraded version of LY80. I am glad that now our Army to has a medium to long range Air defence system & LY80 has now checked high altitude planes.

LY-80 Hassan

Aitzaz Hassan Bangash Shaheed (Urdu: اعتزاز حسن‎, born 1997 - died 7 January 2014 Hangu) was a Pakistani school boy from Hangu District in kpk province who sacrificed his life while preventing a suicide bomber from entering his school of 2,000 students at Ibrahimzai village of Hangu, on 6 January 2014.

Aitzaz's action to save his classmates captured the hearts of many in Pakistan, and he was hailed as a National hero.

It is with us for a few months now. Setting up formations and regiments. A good purchse indeed and all the reason to be happy about. I will like to see a few more systems (same) procured and may be in house missile manufacturing or full maintainance at least. This can for that mid level ground based Air defence bubble. Once we get these in required numbers we can look for a few longer range systems in relatively lower number.

It's been with Pakistan for months. Regiments have been raised, inducted into their Parent Formations and these Regiments have been practicing manoeuvres for quite some time now.

Good to see the name LY-80 Hassan, what a hero. A perfect way to pay tribute to our Young Lion. He will always live within our hearts.

Name is not confirmed on official level so we should wait for the name being confirmed on state level. Pakistan Affairs have proven wrong many times before

Quwa wrote an article on the newer version of this particular SAM system. It was quoted to have 75km range. Are we getting the newer ones with 75km range or older ones with 45 km range?
Anyone?
