Look at Indian democracy, Gilani tells Pak

sab loot ke challa gaye, ab hume sikara hai. hang him supreme court or i wish for a coup to allah

But, even in the time it has had, has Pakistani democracy shown any maturation? Have we made any progress on accountability, representation, transparency over all these years, or is this just a charade for the feudal monarchies to perpetuate their rule?

Certainly, Imran Khan will be a breath of fresh air but, even if he comes to power, the jury is still out on how much of his administration will be compromised by trojan horses. It sounds drastic, but I have my doubts about whether democracy will ever flourish without disposing of the feudals first.

i think you need to give time for democracy to mature and frankly it is a long process...whenever pakistan shows signs of stable democracy something happens and army takes over..or people themselves wish that army should take over...it wont work like that...you guys needed a leader to look up to and Imran khan might just be that guy..
lets hope people trust him and don't loose trust in him after he comes to power...patience is the key...

Many people are discussing that whether Pakistan should adopt an Indian model or Chinese model. But it's like comparing oranges to apples.Every country has it's own fabric, own shortcomings, own strong points and most importantly own set of people. So it's not just fair to compare Pakistan to Chinese and Indian model just coz both are progressing faster than Pakistan. In my personal opinion Pakistan need their Kemal Pasha rather than democracy who is secular, pro-development and no intentions of war towards India unlike other military dictator in history.

Thanks for the advice, but it is clear that you don't understand Pakistan and pakistanis. We are already secular, in the sense that there is freedom of religion, speech, association, etc. The only thing you're kind of secularism offers Pakistan is the destruction of our Islamic identity. So kindly keep it for yourself.

Come on, why India vs Pakistan here?

Pakistan and India are two different countries. For India democracy works, but for pakistan we get 2.8 Trillion Rupees corruption. Which has broken back of common people. Which is why most of the people are fade-up with this democracy already. May be some day (next election may be) when some other person do come in, we (Pakistanis) might change our minds, but for Gilani, "SHUT THE F**K OFF". You can't save your *** by giving example of india.

And pakistani people will back military on this. (But this isn't going to happen anyway)

actually this is why i like Nehru

despite all his mistakes, he gave stable 17 years to India (1947 to 1964 )

this gave time to Indian democracy to stabilize

several nations got independence at the same time we got or 4 to 5 years later

they didn't get much required stability in early years so soon dictatorship took control there
