Lockheed Martin Corp's Sikorsky Aircraft Corp subsidiary was awarded a U.S. Army contract worth $3.8 billion for Black Hawk helicopters for sale to Saudi Arabia, the Pentagon said on Friday.
The contract for a multi-year production effort includes associated services for program system management, engineering, technical data and publications, the Pentagon said in a statement.

Lockheed Martin said in a statement that the five-year contract was for 257 H-60 Black Hawk helicopters worth about $ 3.8 billion, including the option to purchase an additional 103 aircraft, with a total contract value of 5.2 Billion dollar.
This is part of the $ 110 billion defense deal signed by US President Donald Trump during his visit to Saudi Arabia in late May.

The UH-60M will gradually replace the 25-year old "L" model and become the Army's medium-lift helicopter capable of assault, medevac and cargo missions as well as command and control, aerial sustainment, and search and rescue. It will also be looked at as a follow-on helo to special operations units according to Chief Warrant Officer 4 Gene McNeill, who is presently serving as a test pilot and trainer on the "M" model at Sikorsky.

- The manufacturing stages include final assembly..Which will include components made in Saudi Arabia as well as the US and other countries..
