Lockheed to handover latest F-35 tech to India in fighter jet bid
F-16 production might be moved to India

American defense contractor Lockheed Martin is sweetening a potential deal with India, offering to fork over the latest fighter jet technologies in a bid for the world’s largest aircraft order. India is seeking proposals for a total 110 aircraft, totaling a reported minimum of US$15 billion.

Advanced radar fitted on their fifth-generation F-35 combat jets will be offered on the F-16 jets, Lockheed vice-president Vivek Lall said in an interview reported by Bloomberg.

“There are a lot of technologies that come into the F-16 from F-35 and F-22, including the latest radar on these platforms,” Lall said. “It is a contemporary, state-of-the-art platform.”

The bid also reportedly comes with an offer to move the F-16s only production line, currently based in Fort Worth, Texas, to India.

Lockheed sees huge potential for the company’s business in India, plans for which dovetail with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Made in India” campaign.

“Potentially, India could emerge as a manufacturing hub for F-16. Just as the aviation industry has grown in Turkey over the years for F-16 and fighter planes, there is potential for India to become a major hub for F-16s,” according to John Losinger of Lockheed’s Integrated Fighter Group Communications. “The beauty of F-16 is it could potentially put India in the large global supplies chain. But the outcome depends on the Government procurement decision,” he was quoted as saying in The Hindu Business Line.

“Defence procurement world over is a long process and India is no exception,” Chief Executive of Lockheed’s India unit, Phil Shaw, said. “However, the quicker the orders come the better […] These defence deals have potential to strengthen business back home while also creating new jobs in the US and India,” Shaw said.

indians really have some very wet dreams ;)

first time I've heard of a country saying that we WON'T buy it if you transfer technology:woot:

as I said, angoor khattay heeeeiin in ADVANCE!!!

Maybe if you try to understand what comes after ToT..

Ever wondered why it's DRDO that said they've no issues with Spike as long as there's no ToT?
Because it'll go against their own product, the NAG.
Now as a result, NAG is being inducted. Spike if procured will just be a stop gap.

Really?
All this F16/F35 crap is being pushed by Lockheed in the media. It has nothing to do with India, other than LM's Indian partner.

as for IAF MK/MKI and F-15 exercise all site those phrasing a performance MK/MKI is indian based give me neutral site that stated MK/MKI is better than F-15
Exercise in the US showed better performance by F15. Exercise in India showed better performance by MKI.

This is very natural considering hosts are given advantage and classified equipments are switched off.

Because MKI had a PESA whereas F-15 had a pulse Doppler radar at the time of exercise @KapitaanAli ;) that why you won the exercise @KapitaanAli :p::enjoy:

kia ho jaye ga if they give you tech transfer??? what? you can incorporate the tech in your weapons and make them actually LOOK like weapons??? your idiotic comment speaks for itself!

Qaher is not out yet, when it is, you can comment.
So when will it be out? Or when even the prototypes will be out?
The best we have seen is a radio controlled toy plane.

The issue is never what others are offering, the issue is always what you are buying.

The funniest thing will be India to buy J-10C in Modi's latest visit to China  . J-10C actually fits IAF requirement completely

You can't incorporate other's tech when four of your ATGM versions are either being inducted, or in trials, or in final phase of development. But it can kill them off by diverting resources.

Well, what would you know about developing anything..
You probably think it's like playing with Lego.

Sounds like you are 16 years old......lol

F-15 has similar RCS to MKI and F-35 RADAR has Jaming capability against jet radars and SAMs radars and you all those claims specially against Israeli jets from russian source not from neutral source, israeli claims that their jet down by SAMs/technical mishaps you fool, and i am not talking about R-27 which is 60's era semi active radar guided missiles comparable to sparrow (AIM-7) but R-77 which is comparable to AMRAAM (AIM-120), as for IAF MK/MKI and F-15 exercise all site those phrasing a performance MK/MKI is indian based give me neutral site that stated MK/MKI is better than F-15 you sh!thead @Tokhme khar yeah very few 5th gen SRAAM developed by the west pose threat by R-73, namely german IRST or may be S-darter by south africa, AIM-9X in its development/concept phase since mid 70s, same goes to UK ASRAAM @Tokhme khar :p::p:enjoy:

yes bro it has a capability to electronic attack on both jet and SAMs radars @Torch :agree:

Here is my assessment.

F-16 is being retired all world around in favor of F-35. Major operators of F-16 are in Europe and they get their spares from Turkey and USA now where is F-16 left will be Middle east and by the time the plant is setup in India Middle east will also near retiring F-16 as in most new defense jet procurement in middle east no one ordered F-16 so India will get the plant operational in Next 10 years and by that time India will be the sole operator of F-16 in the world because rest of the world would have retired the F-16. So in 2035 when the world will be flying 5th gen India will be mass producing F-16. lol this is the only possible situation that could be fitted in producing F-16 in India.

Countries like Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan, SK, Egypt, Morocco, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and of course the EU will continue to operate this F-16 for another decade. US trying to sell the aftermarket parts business to the Indians. The sweetener in this is the F-35 assembly lines. Once again all US puppets in the EU, the wahabbi countries and other camel jockey puppets in the Persian Gulf will also buy from India if F-35 assembly line gets set up at HAL, just like how the US set up the F-16 line in turkey in 1980.

The only issue here is that both the F-16 and the F-35 are junk! So selling junk to puppets business.

All that's great, but IAF has asked for GaN radars. The RFP will ask for capabilities that the F-35 doesn't have, let alone the F-16.

The USAF will operate F-16s beyond 2048.

well you may be right but India is no longer looking for ToT.

“The IAF has issued an RFI for 110 fighters without mentioning the requirement of single engine/twin engine mainly to widen competition amongst various fighter manufacturers,” a defense official said. “The main emphasis of this RFI is on transfer of technology and performance based logistics.”

“The ToT requirement is very exhaustive and also includes ToT of avionics, electronic warfare systems including missile approach warner, active electronically scanned array radar, engine and also for setting up the manufacturing unit in India,” retired IAF air marshal and defense analyst Daljit Singh said. “It is indeed a tall order for the OEM to provide so much of ToT.”
