Lockheed Martin signs pact with Tata to make F-16 planes in India

The only think it motivate youth to prefer aeronautics .... like after 2000's every one was preferring IT .... we have enough human resources and such initiative will defenitely give more venues for youth
Well, you're going to see a lot more of this. India's aerospace and defence sector is opening up to India's private sector. You're going to see several of the big companies creating a aerospace and defence arm. Several small, but specialized firms are, will be popping up.

You're going to see everything from small arms to tanks, from helicopters to submarines being produced by such firms.

TATA's aerospace arm is pretty young, which got it's first break in 09, they've been doing pretty good since then.

Pakistan had the luxury of an Indian military industry cogged by sluggish, incompetent state owned enterprises, that's going to change.

If TATAs aerospace is shortlisted with LM, TATA will be the lead integrator of not only the F16IN, but also C295.

HAL has to be shitting bricks. Just lobbying wont work, better get to out performing.

India would have no say in that. The IP is owned by the US companies and the decision making would be entirely with the US. If US says make spares and sell to Pakistan, Indian partner TATA would have to oblige.

Any product produced in India is subject to Indian exit control laws. Even if TATA is produced, if Indian laws mandate no Indian made defence product can be exported to enemy country, then not even LM can send them to Pakistan even indirectly through USA. The host country always has a say in whom to sell. Mostly however in our case it will be limited to Pakistan.

TATA's aerospace arm started in 2009?

How much do you think this deal is going to help with India's indigenous tech base, since the US is notorious for being very controlling with their technology. Even to their closest allies like Israel.

Next step should be splitting the HAL. Aircraft MRO, Jets, Helicopters. Let them fight with each other.

Nothing.

HAL is been making jets from 70s. SU30MKI is being made from raw materials to end product including engine. Still they need to gain expertise.

Until the babus who make these deals go away, nothing will change in Indian MIC.

My only purpose was to show how big tatas are :) nothing else and thanks for a decent response

You have had good intentions buddy however the sarcastic tone ruined everything. It sounded more boastful. I'm sure most people here know regarding huge Companies in India like Tata and Reliance... :)

Not only splitting but they should be sold to Indian private players. The money that government receives from that sale should go into capital budget of the armed forces.

That would be a win-win.

Wait a minute, what happened to Trumps campaign promise of keeping U.S. jobs in the U.S.? American jobs going to India, same old clinton and obama policies.
No one will buy F16 nowadays except for India.

Even its production line was closed in USA.

Founded in 07, got their first break with the Sikorsky JV, since then, they've been in upward climb.

I do think the airbus C295 integration, and if won, the F16 integration work will be a catalyst for much bigger things to come. Both the Turkish and Koreans have assembled F16s, off that they are now going into their own 5th generation programs.

TATAs, and other's will eventually want to produce their own IP.

They're already doing this with DRDO with ICV and artillery programs.

Whatever the case, DRDO will have a much bigger industrial complex to work with, instead of being hand cuffed to HAL.

Sorry if I sounded boastful ..... but some one just tried to demean it other wise nice to have one more good memeber from Pakistan :)

I think getting f16s would be the best move!
By now India realised that nobody would give then complete TOT in sensitive technologies like engines....
Getting f16 production like will be turn around for aerospace sector....similar to what happened automobile sector years ago!
And regarding potency of the aircraft...it can very well perform the role of point fighter it is replacing!!
And will be diplomatic coup with US!
And it pressurises Russia to fasten fgfa deal!

We are 10 years late on this....

is this sarcasm? if India could turn raw materials into SU30MKI's engine, Kaveri would have been a piece of cake.
