Pata.. Indian sword

This is an Indian sword with a gauntlet integrated as a handguard.[1] Often referred to in its native Marathi as a dandpatta, it is commonly called a gauntlet-sword in English.

Traditionally, Maratha warriors were trained to fight with dual pata by bearing one in each hand. Alternatively, a single pata was used in addition to a belt, javelin, or axe in the other hand. The sword was also used by cavalry soldiers[1] for its thrusting ability and was found more effective when two soldiers fought together as pair..

I believe there was a Discovery show compare this sword to European sabre. And the result was unexpected. This sword can crush through helmet easily, and certainly break an arm or leg if make contact. The flesh wound it made was so nasty that doctor at that time could not do anything but to dig out the damaged flesh to avoid blood loss.

In fact, in a comprehensive archaeological-anthropologic point of view, the native Filipinos are genetically similar to the aborigines of Taiwan. These swords or you may call sabers were from Turkic origin.. These are extremely light and were meant to give fatal cuts to enemy with skills... Many of Indian sabers (talwars) have been inspired by these sword.. Before that, Indians used straight single edged swords called Khadag and latter called as Khanda... These straight swords were called as "Asi" before Mahabharata time....

Meanwhile this is sword from south India which required good skills to wield.
This is a longsword with a flexible whip-like blade from India. Originating in the country's southern states, it is thought to have existed as far back as the Maurya dynasty. The urumi is considered one of the most difficult weapons to master due to the risk of injuring oneself. It is treated as a steel whip, and therefore requires prior knowledge of that weapon. For this reason, the urumi is always taught last in the martial arts.

The word urumi is of north Keralan origin. In the state's southern region it is more commonly called a chuttuval, from the words for coiling or spinning (chuttu) and sword (vaal). Alternative Tamil names for the weapon aresurul val (curling sword) and surul katti (curling knife).

There's a Taiwanese movie called Seediq Bale (2011). One of the best historical movies i have seen. I was surprised when I first saw it because I thought the movie was about native Filipinos fighting the imperial army during WW2. We do look like them.

They were ferocious fighters. It is documented that Japan's first Governor of Taiwan -- Kabayama Sukenori -- that it was far easier for the Imperial Army to suppress the native Han who inhabited the flatland of Taiwan as compared to the Aborigines, who fought to the death. They had what we Japanese refer as "Yamatodamashi" -- this means Japanese Fighting Spirit.

Taiwanese Aborigines were very effective in guerrilla warfare and in mountain tactics. It took a lot of man power to subjugate them.

The curves is said to make it more deadly by rupturing bloodvessels when someone is stabbed, the wave patterns themselves depend on the maker/area of origin. Sometimes the blades are poisoned to make them even more deadly.

The badik or badek is a knife or dagger developed by the Bugis and Makassar people of southern Sulawesi, Indonesia.

It comes in great variety and sizes. The badik has a straight, curved, bulbous or wavy, single or double edge blade. The blade has a smooth or provided with hollow sections. The weapon either is pointed or rounded. Like the kris, the shape of the blade is asymmetric and often decorated with pamor (pattern welding steel commonly known as Damascus steel). However, it differs from the kris in that the badik does not a have ganja (a buffer strip steel). Some versions from Sulawesi are decorated with inlaid gold figure on the blade called jeko. The handle is made of wood, horn or ivory in a shape of a pistol grip at 45° to 90° degree angle or similar in a bent often decorated with carvings. From its native Sulawesi, the badik soon spread to neighbouring islands like Java, Borneo, Sumatra and as far as the Malay Peninsula, creating a wide variety of badik according to each region and ethic group.There are many versions made and used throughout the Indonesian archipelago alone




Klewang

The klewang or kelewang is a type of single-edge longsword from Indonesia with a protruding notch near its tip. In size, weight and shape it is halfway between the golok and the kampilan. The style of the klewang differs between the various cultures of Indonesia. Blades range from 15-30 inches in length and may be straight or slightly curved. It is carried for show by followers of chiefs, or taken on expeditions to market or nightly walks in the villages. It is worn without a sheath although there are sheathed varieties.




Kujang

The Kujang is a blade weapon native to the Sundanese people of Western Java, Indonesia. The earliest Kujang made is around the 8th or 9th century. It is forged out of iron, steel and pattern welding steel with a length of approximately 20-25cm and weighs about 300 grams. According to Sanghyang siksakanda ng karesiancanto XVII, Kujang was the weapon of farmers and has its roots in agriculture purpose. It is thought to have originated from its predecessor, a Kudi. Kujang is one of the traditional weapons in the Sundanese school of Pencak Silat. The Kujang, like the Keris, is a blade of sentimental and spiritual value to the people of Indonesia, who have a vast belief in supernatural powers.

You are referring to the Amis of Taiwan, right? Well it is said that their closest biological relative is Filipinos which would include the Ivatan of Batanes.

It was said to be used by civilian as a self-defense weapon (similar to modern day civilian version of the AR-15 rifle), as well as for duel. It is unlikely that this sword has seen battlefield use as this sword is merely for thrust attacks.

As stated in the internet, the name "Rapier" came from the Spanish word ropera, which in turn comes from ropa, or elegant dress, thus a "dress sword". So it is likely that this sword is used as a form of decoration, specifically for the upper class people.

Chinese armies during the Qin dynasty used the dagger axe, a polearm weapon that can be used for thrusting and slashing.

Kerambit is a claw-shaped dagger which is imitating Tiger's claw. This weapon is originally from Minangkabau tribe in Sumatra.
The Kerambit is well known for its for usefulness to kill effectively and silently.

The word golok (sometimes misspelled in English as "gollock") is of Indonesian origin[2]but is also used in Malaysia and is known as gulok in the Philippines. In Malaysia the term is usually interchangeable with the longer and broader parang.[3] In the Sundanese region of West Java it is known as bedog.
