Karachi is already Gaza of Pakistan. Palestinians beg Israelis for their own tax money so they can pay salaries to Palestinian workers in Gaza

Technically - just as Palestinians have to blame for constantly supporting a failed PA and Hamas.. Karachi dwellers have developed their own apathy. They could if they wanted to shut Pakistan down entirely if they wanted to but for the most part the elite and middle class dont ever care for their poor other than paying Edhi or Chippa for donations. The poor dont have any leadership options and the Coffee shop variety are ok roaming in their Audis even if their engines are knocking due to poor fuel quality.

Karachi wants liberation and separation from Sindh govts unjust practices. If establishment wants to occupy something, they should occupy interior Sindh that is the home ground of PPP voters not Karachi

It's that damn 18th amendment loophole. IK need to make a play on this and abolish it asap.

IK and Supreme court both have the power to make Karachi a federal territory and later make a pseudo province.

Establishment doesn't want Muhajir to get too powerful so they will continue to play their games. Establishment created MQM to weaken Jeay Sindh and then cooked up Jinnahpur episode and created MQM-H which caused killing of thousands of Muhajir.
Where were establishment when 1000 were dyeing every week in Karachi?
Why establishment didn't remove quota system against Muhajir.
They have systematically weakened and suppressed Muhajir Quam.
Muhajir were systematically removed from Federal and provincial jobs.
Muhajir in Pakistan are in worse than Indian Muslims trying to find government Jobs in India.
No improvement in Education system in Karachi......

Look at this. A list of Karachi ambulances. Nothing official, looks like its charities. Karachi is the breadwinner for Pakistan and it doesn't have something as basic as calling an ambulance? Only people in Karachi have themselves to blame if they tolerate this.

It's the same counter intuitive argument MQM used to throw out, why would we engage in extortion, kidnappings and killings in our own city, why would we want to harm peace harmony and prosperity of our city.

Same philosophy that MQM applied to Karachi, establishment is doing the same, i.e. a chaotic and dysfunctional Karachi is in better interest of establishment control at the center.

In spite of the chaos and neglect, Karachi still contributes 56% of the total federal revenue, let that sink in.

A functional and prosperous Karachi has the potential to contribute up to 75-80% of the revenue if not more...

And that's what the establishment fears, i.e. Karachi living up to its full potential will render both Central Punjab, Lahore and Pindi et al irrelevant side shows.

I don't think it's that, after NRO, PPP grabbed Sindh by the balls.

Karachi has the potential to be a wealthy port city with a skyline and clean beaches. Once it becomes this, it should be made the capital again. Fill the nearby beaches with resorts and pool parties, so much scope.

They should have just taken the $55 billion CPEC loan and spent it on revamping Karachi.

Karachi should become more proactive and united to stop this situation
At the end of the day this is going on cause you're consenting to it by not protesting or leading some sort of a proper, dedicated movement for autonomy of Karachi- no other big city in Pakistan would tolerate this situation, thierll be consequences both in elections, protests etc

MQM wasn't it, it was an ethnic party and pakistani powers to be never like outwardly ethnic parties and ofcourse other groups of Karachi won't like them either

There should have been an "outgrowth" from fix it movement
Make it an official political party for Karachi and it's devalopment period

No ethnic, no relgious or other undertone
Pure "pan" Karachi party, so you can unite the city behind everyday issues of Thier lives
With proper campaign You'll get the support of everyone in diverse Karachi (theoretically cause everyone is suffering), you'll not scare off rest of the country, ethnic groups of Karachi by making it an ethnic party

It’s not just about the side shows - it has more to do with monetary control. The establishment isn’t as invested in Karachi due to pre-existing business families and interests so they wont make as much.
