I fail to understand why people propose one extreme in response to another? why do you go towards western clothing? why not allow the women to wear Saris in your case and Shalwar Kameez in our case?

I am actually moderate Muslim. However I know many women from my relatives who are willingly wearing burqa and without force. And many are just wearing saree ( mostly our aunt type ladies) , all are personal choice.

However Muslim ladies in my era mostly wear salwar kameez ( in urban areas ) and I have no obligation with that.

However if someone is very pious , love and fear allah very much, then she can wear burqa/Hijab too if she wish.
Old days ladies were so shy that they often used it without any compulsion.
In present days some seculars ( in BD) are trying to say that wearing burqa is compulsion, but that's simply not right.

I am not claiming that no man enforce burqa, yes many do. But there are lots of ladies who wear it willingly .

All Muslims I have talked to is all for women empowerment and women's rights.

You are no better than those snobs who live in the west who are ignorant about the rights given to Muslim women from Islam.

Islam gave Muslim women many rights. While in Ancient Roman empire, Ancient Persia, Ancient India, Ancient China and the Ancient Far East, women were treated very badly and treated no better than prostitutes in some cases.

Interesting you mention that. So, my wife, whose a well educated career woman, she toggles between hijab on and off (never wore the burqah). She puts the hijab on because she says that it gives her a feeling of purity and confidence. But then, as soon as she feels that she starts feeling like good ol' mrs high and mighty mrs perfect muslimah who has the right to look down upon and judge other muslimahs who don't wear the hijab, SHE STOPS!
