The Tejas is an exceptional aircraft. It's air dominance is such that the India air force deems it unfair on the opposition to field it in numbers. They wish to give their opponents a fighting chance and limit the kill ratio of their legendary pilots. Why is your airforce looking for a alternative single engined fighter to do the exact same role as LCA?

We are a country with defense budget of over 40 billion usd. Resources are enough so no compromises.
Tejas was rejected even after having better performance figures than JF17.
F16 block 70, Mig 35, Gripen were told that they were not fit for requirements, That tells a lot about IAF standards.

Any country with ample funds will never settle with compromised alternative (JF 17).

Brahmos is now 70 percent Indian technology

AMCA will have both Indian and Russian systems

Kaveri engine is 75 percent Ready as per the French experts from SAFRAN

So that means 75 percent work of the New engine that we will make with SAFRAN
is already done by India

We do what we can

We will catch up with the West by 2050 at least
