Launching my American Wife's You Tube Channel: Promote Pakistan!

So, after many months of procrastination, she is launching her You Tube channel. My primary objective is to promote a soft-image of Pakistan, promote Pakistan's tourism, and fill up our evenings :) She is also interested in those goals plus..there is potential revenue for her.

Anyway, this is going to be slow-going, fun, casual blog by her. She's a 'country girl' from the American South--as if the accent won't betray that--and is a non-techie.

BTW, this video was hurriedly shot in our home today...

My deepest respect to you and your wife.

Well we are nervous! We are not looking forward to hate comments. To the loss of privacy. But we are taking the plunge and we DO want to help Pakistani image and tourism. We really don't need that money from You Tube.
Thanks

That is the problem with social media. You have to prepare yourself for the hate onslaught and have really thick skin.

When you present yourself online the human reaction is one akin to a lynch mob. It brings out the worst of the human condition... The animal instinct... All because of those who are making hate speech against you, feel protected by the ambiguity of the internet. While you are the most vulnerable due to your exposure.

Best of luck!

Haha!!! So you know, sir/madam!
BTW, she absolutely HATES 'Deliverance' and especially the Dueling Banjos scene. She thinks it's a denigration of The South. I have told her all good and bad guys ARE from the South... but no effect on her.

It's a sir here :)

Yes I'm a fan of southern culture actually...including all the humour.

Bud of mine (in college) kept making references to the movie till I finally watched it with him lol... I loved that banjo duelling scene (and bluegrass kind of music more generally)...as creepy as that kid was heh....other scenes, not so much lol.

Totally understand why your wife hates how it caricatures the south/appalachia though....but thats because lot of great rustic actual culture of the US is down among those good ole boys. Where you have the most culture, you have the most stereotypes made about ppl etc....because rest can just take refuge in mediocrity "global" blandness.

Don't worry about haters, just be positive and forge ahead with what you have planned. There will always be those who either misunderstand or are too insecure. My Salams to the both of you and wishing both of you a long, prosperous and happy marriage.

As a suggestion, You guys should start locally in America and don't be too political. Slowly work your way up. Once you have a following, then you can get into the image stuff. Image is shown with your attitudes, mannerisms and behaviors. You don't really have to make a thing out of it. A Pakistani being married to a Caucasian American is already a conversation piece.

Also, I wouldn't worry too much about haters man. Putting yourself out there takes a lot of courage. So, don't worry about the cowards that put you down. As long as you are genuine, people will love you and they will gravitate towards you. I hope you don't mind my suggestions brother, I did not mean to be intrusive. All the best :).

We're away from home.. on mobile.. she just posted a short clip.. but is already wondering about the Down Votes.. thx for all your input.. PS our priority Will be Pakistani content!

Yes sir. We are planning to visit late Nov/early Dec this year. And I plan to make the trip as more than just eating Biryanis or Tikka visits--though that would be nice too, of course. I plan to interact with maximum Pakistani bloggers and get all kinds of perspectives and content creations.

She might be harder for Pakistanis to understand because of a thick Southern-Appalachian accent :) Perhaps she too could use Accent Neutralization like the Chinese do ;)
Sir that is a great initiative you have set out on, my best wishes to you on your plans. I am going on a exploration trip in less than a week to Pakistan as well. I have decided from now on I want to spend my holidays(vacation:P) in Pakistan instead of europe because Pakistan is still unexplored.

It is good to see you are doing it as a couple.

Good to see that. But hat is with the Amerian flag on the background as if you guys really need the audience's approval for that. But anyways, that's personal choice.

If you want to get some quick subs, then keep an eye on daily news and find titles that will attract the public.
Do more videos on those and you will see some quick jumps in views.

In recent years Northern Pakistan has heavily been promoted due to its majestic beauty. However the south Sind, rural Punjab and parts of KPK and Balochestan have completely been ignored.

Thank you all! Much appreciated. I will be back with responses. For now, we are thinking of taking advantage of the weekend and go out and make some more videos of her.
But, briefly: Our challenges would be:
1) Language barrier: She is almost (actually absolutely) zero in Urdu. And I want this to be her story. So no me in videos.
2) Getting equipment: A camera/microphone combo which would be good for desktop computer, good for dashboard, and good for selfie stick. Yes, a Swiss Knife kind of setup. Is it even possible? Maybe Go Pro? We don't mind spending some.
I will be back.
PS. Already some nasty Comments on her Channel. It can be devastating to anyone not so exposed to such hate.
