I wonder why the industrialists from India, one of the most underdeveloped countries, should bring money to invest in BD. Is it because the Indian labors are inefficient? Is it because they cannot work hard because of deficiency in protein intake? Or, is it because they want to invest in west Bengal, where labor is cheap, but the unruly politicians do not want them to invest there?

Another question, will they invest mostly in textile? It seems logical to think they will invest in BD garments sector only because the Indians are just incapable of designing and creating dresses like our people do in BD. Indians will exploit our expertise to benefit themselves. BD should not allow any specialized zone for them. And, instead of investing in BD the GoI should work to give enough protein to its work force, so that they also can produce as good textiles as our people do.

If the investors bring any Indians here they must also ensure to give them proper training to prevent any cultural shocks due to the cultural differences between Bangladesh and India. The training must include:

• Developing skills on how to use latrines
• Importance of hygiene and cleanliness
• Proper sanitation and its effects on the environment

The training must be approved by a local municipal corporation in Bangladesh and the cost of the training must be entirely borne by the investors.
