Lal Masjid- Shifting Truth from Lies-Pervez Musharraf

The Lal Masjid operation was highly flawed..

Nobody realized that the protesters were your normal spotty snotty youngsters and teenagers.Their sentiments can go high and they can be violent at times.
Same as protests and armed conflicts breakout in any other University or college..It didn't matter if they were wearing Burqa and had beard and caps..under the hood, they were immature youngsters similar to any other University or college going youth.

If the matter was resolved in that context instead of treating it as an all out religious, extremist and terrorist scenario, the outcome had been better.

This mishandled operation opened a huge can of worms, and the country is still suffering the aftermath. All this could have been avoided.

Look at the videos and pictures posted in this thread and else where, the average age of the protesting students is no more than 19 ,may be even less. Why not treat them as your usual stupid youngster, instead of demonizing them?

The masjid was burned and bombed to extinction, but is there any other such example where a whole university was razed to ground due to a student strike? I dont think so.

indeed a can of worms was opened up
to help you jog your memory, the people in the media were criticising government for non-action
these so called “immature teenagers” managed to kidnap & murder 6 rangers, ransack government & private properties, harass foreigner & civilians and openly & aggressively taunted the state to “BRING IT ON”

the lying mullahs & their wife threatened to shove their sham Islamic version on us all and when the things stated to get hot shamelessly denied any wrong doing. But all their bravado is captured in the eye of the camera, what they said and what they acted can be seen many times in helping to dismiss any ambiguity.

Lal Mosque administration would make a big claim, threaten and then totally distance itself & deny what it just said few days ago or in the end even minutes ago.

Lal Mosque was a classic example of religious blackmail where whatever any government did or didn’t do was going to be wrong.

The first blood was spilled by the gun totting Lal Mosque when they murdered a ranger in cold blood even before the operation. Why O why my dear people of Pakistan are so selective in remembering the events.

If you think that the movement was heavy handed then do check out how Saudis dealt with the Kaharjis who had captured Grand Mosque of Mecca.

Laal Masjid operation is considerd as a very wrong action by governmnet among many people
.
i am not 100 percent in favour of Laal masjid but..
this problem could be easily solved without operation
by cutting their suppply lines
how long they could mange to live without food water electricity gas????
i dont think so more then a month

I beg to disagree my dear

if you can recall the telephonic conversations
the militant Mullah bragged that they had food to last for months
as far as the electricity goes, they had fuel and generators and water was from their own tube wells.

they even claimed that they had enough weapons and ammunition to fight off the siege as long as they wanted.

You are only hypothesising without knowing what actually happened. I was in Islamabad and was in the vicinity when there was war songs being played via the loud speakers of the Lal Mosque I stayed glued to the TV for the entire operation.
I remember what the Mullah would say an hour earlier and then contradict it later. He will threaten to teach army and government a lesion in one sentence and then complain about the siege in the same breath. He was spoiling for a conflict and a war and war he got.

i somehow agree on what u said
but still i think these people could be handled without operation
the extremists are using this operation as a tool to make other people a terrorist
and a large number of people believe that the crisis like food , power and these floods are only due to this operation :hitwall:

yes i was surprised by the two faced behavior of the masjid admin. They did play a major part in escalating the problem to a blood bath, and they could have done much more in resolving the issue.

But still i insist that the young boys and girls were both misguided and mistreated..Misguided by their teachers and mistreated by the troops.

troops escorted them out and handed them over to police.. actually Col. Haroon gave his life while escorting a group of children when he was shot in the back from the Sinpers hiding in the Minaret.

thats how I remember that day while I was glued to the tv... somebody correct me if I am wrong about how he died.
as far as I remember, the tv reporter said that he was shot in the back when he was facing one of the rooms of the madrassa complex and the fire came from a sinper who slipped though the tunnels dug from the madrassah celler to the base of the minaret.

anyway .. just uploaded this video on youtube to share my feelings about this whole Lal masjid saga.
