4 captured? I'm pretty sure I heard that all of them are either killed or blew themselves up. Except for that SOB with the grenades.

Four captured I believe. Cross referenced it with other reports - three captured in the academy, and one at the helipad.

LAHORE: The siege at the Manawan Police Center in Lahore has ended, bringing a halt to eight-hour long operation

Security forces have arrested four terrorists before regaining control of the besieged Police Center. Four terrorists were also killed in the operation.

According to sources, eight policemen were martyred, while 95 others were injured in the deadly attack.

The attack came at a time when the trainee policemen were doing parade at a Police Center situated near Manawan Village on GT Road today morning.

The attackers first lobbed hand grenades into the training ground from the outside wall, which spread smoke all over the place. Later, they broke into the building and opened fire on unarmed policemen before taking positions.

The Pak army, rangers, Elite forces and policemen, after receiving the information about the attack, reached the scene and launched operation against the armed attackers.

Meanwhile, after eight-hour long operation, security forces regained control of the Police Center, while two terrorists present inside the building blew themselves up to avoid arrests.

Security forces arrested a suspect from a helipad near training school and seized two grenades from his possession. He was shifted to some undisclosed location for interrogation.

Clowns? Seriously? Where exactly were you during this whole incident? I suppose you weren't following this incident live and probably weren't aware of every situation that was developing.

The celebration is reasonable and it was supported by a SEA of locals and public who were carrying these hero's on their shoulders for overpowering the enemy and MINIMIZING the casualties. The operation was a success and if you look at the ratio of casualties, you'd agree that it could've been FAR more worse if these brave men from our SF weren't able to successfully eliminate the threat.

We have captured militants along with DEAD militants and HUNDREDS of innocent police cadets have been saved by the Police, Elite force, Rangers and Army. These people were fighting for their trapped and helpless countrymen and in the beginning, EVERYONE was speculating a massacre of GIANT proportions. But they turned it around and were able to come out with a shinning victory. Our martyrs would NEVER be forgotten for their sacrifices. Be thankful for the fact that out of 800 cadets in that academy, only a few lost their lives. As I said, they MINIMIZED the casualties, and that's definitely something to be happy about.

Show some support and respect for these people who've shown to the world what they're capable of in our DARKEST moments. There are some things that are FAR beyond the realms of normal standards and they can never be explained by mere words. Do NOT insult our hero's by calling them "Clowns" or simply because they were overwhelmed by the fact that they were able to save their brothers from the jaws of eminent death.

Look back in history and you'd find that EVERY important battle won by soldiers has received the same reactions. Which also includes firing in the air. It's not a big deal. And it won't produce any casualties.

Sure, it'll give you one hell of a headache, but you're simply not going to die." I'm pretty sure our security personnel knew what they were doing.

All in all, please show some respect. That's the least you could do.

Whoever is behind the scene, it is sure, the freedom fighters who are fighting Indian Occupational Forces in Kashmir are not in any way involved in this. Now after the Swat Peace Deal, it is unlikely that Swat based Talibans are involved, rather the group of Behtullah Mehsud is more likely to be involved in this...

Too early to judge, important to keep an open mind right now. For example, attacking police academies is a favorite tactic of Al Qaeda, yet there is no evidence yet to suspect its involvement here.

Yup! Indian police are not given machine guns only anti terrorist squads of cities are. I think it is good that they are not, it does not encourage gun culture. If people see so many guns around, especially kids fancy them. India has been peaceful, by and large. No need for such sophisticated guns.

That is what I wondered. Why would he hold on to something so tight, if he were a terrorist? He would rather get rid of all bags and identities.
