In a controversial statement, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah on Friday taunted the government saying Azad Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) is not a personal property to be inherited. He questioned India’s claim on Azad Kashmir and said that it isn’t its paternal property. “Kya yeh tumare baap ka hai (Is this your fathers’ property),” Abdullah was quoted saying by News 18 website. Addressing a function in the Chenab Valley in the presence of his son Omar, Farooq made the statement while referring to Parliament’s standing resolution on Azad Kashmir. “Azad Kashmir is presently under Pakistan occupation. It is not the personal property of India so that it could make a claim over it like an inherited property of forefathers,” Abdullah was quoted saying.

“Pakistan is one of the stakeholders (of the Kashmir issue) which even the government of India has accepted,” he said, adding that the government will have no option but to start talks with Pakistan so that the “atrocities through which people of Jammu and Kashmir are undergoing will come to an end.”

Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that autonomy to both sides of J&K was the solution to the end the nearly seven-decade major problem between India and Pakistan. “Borders cannot be changed but these can be made irrelevant and soft for people to people exchange and opening new vistas of trade and commerce for overall economic prosperity of the region. “We bat for autonomy to both sides of Kashmir and converting LoC-IB as soft border,” said Abdullah.

Earlier on Sunday, Farooq Abdullah, referring to the continuing disturbances between India and Pakistan, said that both the sides need to talk to each other. “War cannot bring solution, talks can,” Abdullah said.

Srinagar: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has said India lacked guts to take back parts of Jammu and Kashmir now under Pakistani control.

Addressing a rally in Kishtwar district, the National Conference president said India and Pakistan needed to talk and solve the Kashmir issue because "war is no solution".

"Pakistan is one of the stakeholder which the government of India has itself accepted. There was a resolution on this, which says that Azad Kashmir is the part of India. Kya yeh tumhare baap ka hai? (Is this your ancestral property)," he said.

"The government of India has no guts to take back (parts of Kashmir) from Pakistan, neither Pakistan has guts to snatch Kashmir from India. In between, innocent people of Kashmir are suffering and border residents have become the cannon fodder due to escalating tensions."

Abdullah made the remarks amid heightened India and Pakistan border tension which has left dozens of people, including soldiers, dead on both sides.

Land belongs to people who live there and now it's muslims majority land unsolved agenda which is not going to resolve anytime soon and I see that India is ready to lose the rest for Kashmir when on the other side we have no option to get what belongs to us.

Modi threatens to stop water for Pakistanis

SRINAGAR/KARACHI: Former chief minister of Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) Farooq Abdullah Friday said that India lacked the courage to take Kashmir from Pakistan, adding that talks were the only way to resolved the longstanding dispute between the two countries.

Speaking at a rally in Kishtwar, IoK, Farooq Abdullah maintained that war was no solution to an issue, and to resolve the Kashmir dispute Pakistan and India will have to hold talks.

"Kashmir is not the personal property of India so that it could make a claim over it like an inherited property of forefathers," he said.

"Pakistan is one of the stakeholders (of the Kashmir issue) which even the government of India has accepted," the former CM of occupied Jammu and Kashmir said, adding that the government will have no option but to start talks with Pakistan so that the atrocities being suffered by the Kashmiri people could come to an end.

“War cannot bring solution, talks can,” he added.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have soared to an all-time high over atrocities in occupied Kashmir, and continuous violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Indian along the LoC and the Working Boundary.

The use of brute force by Indian forces has resulted in the martyrdom of the over 150 innocent Kashmiris, besides serious injuries inflicted to thousands others in occupied valley.

The aggressive posturing and continuing unprovoked fire by India has resulted in martyrdom of a number of Pakistani civilians and military troops in past three months.

Earlier today, India once again unveiled its ugly face as its premier Narendra Modi threatened to stop water flowing into Pakistan.

He said this water would be used to cater needs of farmers in India.
