Kufr fatwa issued against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for speaking at Holi festival

ISLAMABAD – A religious scholar has issued a fatwa against Prime Minster Nawaz Sharif for ‘blaspheming’ against Islam in his recent speech on Holi festival.

While delivering a sermon, Allama Ashraf Jalali, a leader of Pakistan Ahle Sunnah wa Jama’ah and secretary of Sunni Ittehad Council, said that the prime minister had not only blasphemed against Islam but also demeaned the ‘ideological foundations’ of Pakistan.

Premier Sharif on 14th March had given a bold, progressive and inclusive message to minorities in the country, saying “no one can force others to adopt a certain religion”.

“God will not ask a ruler what he did for followers of a certain religion,” said Nawaz. “He will ask people such as me: what did we do for God’s creation?”

While demanding an open apology from PM, Jalali said the latter had also violated the oath that he took as prime minister.

PM Sharif is not the first politician to face ‘Kufr’ fatwa. Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was also accused of blasphemy in one of his speeches.

Khan had to retract his words later and tender an open apology during a press conference for ‘hurting’ religious sentiments.

It is pertinent to note here that religious edicts against ‘infidelity’ in Pakistan have been a source of controversy and debate. Rights activists have argued that hate speech can’t be tolerated merely on the grounds that religious ‘pretext’ has been used for it.

Premier Nawaz Sharif’s speech on Holi festival was largely seen as a historic speech that elucidated inclusiveness, tolerance and coexistence for the country.

Having said that, whatever sharif said, should rightfully be scrutinized by PAK citizens of which Mr. jalali is a part. And Muslims should judge the statement from an islamic perspective. Now-a-days westerners and secularists only praise acts that compromises or goes against islamic principles.

And mr. Ashraf Jalali should file a case on sharif (if the law allows it) if he thinks that PAK PM uttered sacrilegious words. He should encourage peaceful political activism against the PM if that's the case. And most importantly he should come forward to teach the muslims of PAK on Islamic matters since most Muslims are ignorant of their religion and I won't be surprised if PM nawaz himself is also ignorant about basic principles of Islam. On the same breath mr. Jalali should also rise against the practice of shrine worship, horoscope, soothsaying etc in PAK and educate PAK muslims on the evils & islam nullifying nature of such practices.

Today anyone with a beard apparently has the rights to tell people who's a Muslim and who's not, they also apparently have the rights to give out 'Fatwas'. Why are we so behind? Why is the Muslim World so unstable? It's because of these pretenders!

He must know arabic,and persian

3-AYRICA, LATİNCEYİ DE BİLECEKTİR.
(He must know Latin)

4-KEFERE DİNİ İLE DİNİMİZ İSLAMI, MUKAYESELİ OLARAK BİLECEKTİR.

He must know the comparative religious studies such as islam-christianity or islam judaism ,judaism-christianity etc..

5-ATA BİNECEK, SPOR YAPACAK, GÜZEL GÖRÜNÜŞLÜ OLACAK VE GÜZEL GİYİNECEKTİR.

He will know how to ride horses properly,a sportsman at least in one field of sports such as archery,wrestling ,swimming etc..,he will have good facial features and well built,he will have excellent dress code, well-dressed, neat and clean.

6-EVLENMİŞ OLACAK, KARISI BİR TANE VE GÜZEL BİR KADIN OLACAKTIR. (HARAMA BAKMAMASI İÇİN)

He must be married with a maximum of one wife who must be very pretty and beautiful (to ensure he doesn't look at other women).

7-İLM-İ TEŞRİHİ (İNSAN YAPISI İLMİ) BİLECEKTİR.

He must know the body language,human interactions and the anatomy,psychology and sociological human factors as well as deeply understanding of human nature.

8-GÜNDELİK OLARAK DA BU İMAMA, 15 BİN AKÇE VERİLECEKTİR.
He will be paid around 4-5k a day

We need to clarify the definition of Imams, Mullahs, Scholars, etc... in the Islamic World. We also need to bring every single religious institution under the State, like it has always been! This is the only way Pakistan can progress.

Its about a Pakistani maulvi being typical and causing a fuss where none is required. Though Sharif deserves to be thrown into the Arabian sea his standing up for minorities during Holi is a positive sign, not a negative one. We have to make our minorities feel welcome in Pakistan.
