KP student kills college principal for ‘blasphemy'

@Alpha BeeTee

As pointed out by Advocate Supreme Court Khawaja Haris Ahmed, this raises a unique problem; can any Muslim ever repeat aloud any blasphemous words about the Holy Prophet, even when required by a court? If not, can any oral blasphemy be proceeded against if requisite testimony cannot be adduced from witnesses? What would then be the quantum of evidence required in such cases? Similarly, a problem would also always arise with any written words that have been subsequently erased or removed, if witnesses cannot repeat those words before a court.

For example in the notorious Salamat Masih Blasphemy case, the Lahore Session Court awarded death penalty to the accused despite the fact that the complainant stated under oath that in view of the danger to his life, he no longer wished to pursue the case, and all three prosecution witnesses, keeping in view the sanctity, refused to repeat aloud the alleged derogatory words on the wall of the mosque that they (i.e. the witnesses) claimed they had wiped out immediately. The High Court later acquitted the accused stating that the prosecution witnesses had failed to prove the case of the prosecution. But damage had been done. One of the three accused (i.e. Manzoor Masih) was killed during the trial, the other two had to flee the country after being acquitted. Their families (as well as 20 other Christian families) had already fled the village. It didn't end here. Four attempts were made on the life of defense attorney (who luckily survived) but Justice Arif Iqbal Bhatti, the senior member of the Lahore High Court bench that acquitted the accused, was later killed by unidentified activists of a religious party that had been threatening him

That @$$h0l3 should be shot on sight by police instead of wasting funds keeping him in jail, driving to courts and wasting court's time.

The law has been misused by mullas, and nobody can do anything about it, what a shame.

.
Blasphemy law should be made more lethal and effective and abusers of this law should be made an example.

We cannot compromise this law due to a bunch of nut heads misusing it.
Infact incidents like these can't even be termed as the misuse of the law. Such murders have nothing to do with the law.

Again, the govt is responsible for this. If I am reassured that the who commits blasphemy against my beloved Prophet PBUH will be penalized according to the Islamic law, I will never ever think about taking the law in my own hands.
People have strong trust deficit and hence they take the law in their hands.
Cut the hands of the thief, stone the rapist, punish the who commits blasphemy, then we'll see kay who takes the law in their hands.
I claim you committed blasphemy i have no proof but i do have an angry mob what would you do?

Another mumtaz qadri in the making.... his well deserved death will be idolised by mullahs.

.
I wonder how can we make a law more lethal that already stipulates mandatory death penalty for all blasphemers, without even defining what qualifies as blasphemy .... Also, neither the circumstances, nor the intention of the offender is considered ... All you need is witnesses who testify before the court that blasphemy was committed and they don't even have to repeat in the court what was said/written by the alleged offender, and the court hands over death penalty ....
More lethal in its application and effectiveness.
There are numerous examples from the time of the Prophet SW which will guide about how the matter was treated at that time. How blasphamers were accused and convicted and how and what constituted proof. We have enough guidance from the actions of Prophet SW and his companions.

Again, if the lawmakers are sincere, then we have ample evidence and guidance from the time of the Prophet SW about how and what constituted blasphemy, what constituted proof and how and what punishments were carried out ?
But the keyword is 'sincere'. We need people with sane minds having deep love and reverence for the beloved Prophet SW to take care of these matters. The tragedy is that we are caught btween brainless mullah mindset who would manipulate and misuse the law and ultra beghairat liberal brigade who don't have an iota of respect and love for the Prophet SW and pretend they have and want this law down and out to appease the west.

Pakistan's current blasphemy laws are not inline with the Sunnah of the prophet SAW. There is not a single recorded incident from the time of prophet when someone was killed for a single utterance of blasphemy. Imam Abu Hanifa believed that blasphemy was a pardonable offense ...

You have completely missed the point. When High Court Judges get killed for acquitting someone accused of committing blasphemy for the lack of proof, there's definitely something very wrong with the society and the so called thekedars of Islam ...

In Prophet Mohammad PBUH time , Not a single one time offender was punished ever. They were all forgiven. Take his behaviour as an example about those Kuffars who used to Disrespect Him In Makkah Times. Did He kill them or forgave them during Fathah e Makkah ?

All the blasphemers were repeated offenders, were given chance to refrain from, by Companions and when they didnt, then those killings happened . All these are documented in Saha Sitta books.

Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) even exiled a Jewish Poet who used to blaspheme against Him on the request of Hazrar Usman RA. Instead of killing him

Now compare it with Pakistani Awam attitude, behaviour and the laws enacted which doesnt have any single provision of forgiveness and Mumtaz Qadri behaviour and let us know whether Pakistani Awam and Law itself is blasphemy against Prophet Mohammad PBUH because they neither give blasphemers a chance to repent nor forgive them on their first offense.
