Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa, new name for NWFP

If the name Pakhtoonkhwa is taken for NWFP, what name would be given FATA if/when it becomes a full-fledged province?

Well,

everyone says Pukhtoonkhwa! where as it is quite famous (except for the Bengal part) that

we have the word PAKISTAN - a combination of like:

P(Punjab) + A(Afghania) + K(Kashmir) + S(Sindh) + Tan(Balochistan) !!

So Why Pukhtoonkwa? Why not Afghania??

Someone said, Bacha Khan wanted Afghania/Pukhtoonkhwa to be part of Afghanistan it should be the other way around! Afghanistan should be like a 5th/6th province of Pakistan (though I know all my friends here would say we only lose in this deal )

The best way to administer this country would be to respect the nations that make it up - divide into large units dictated by nationhood (nation here = Punjabi, Pushtun etc.). However, our people, being the simple and gullible easily misguided they are would make this into lines that divide rather than ones that could give strength (so its a double edged sword I'm afraid)

and then divide those larger units into subunits based on cities and towns. This would give us 7 or 8 provinces. A combination of the current model fused with a sub county/city (Roman city states model).

To simplify it further, it would be like the US states except here we would have the individual groups making up our country.

....But then...... well, I really think it would end up serving the designs of our "not so well wishers" perfectly and that would be BAD.

I born and get raised in Peshawar and I we are the local settler of Peshawar. 40 years back Peshawar had a boundary just like Lahore and other cities and with the passage of time and expansions in city the area lingered and other people from all around get settled in city.
Now the people who use to live 40 years back are all Hindko speaking people who had a culture and who use to know each other. Being the capital people from villages and from afghan migrated camps settled down in main Peshawar and the majority started speaking Pashto. I am amazed how the hell on this earth one will change the name of this province just based of a single ethnicity?? We have Peshawar, Pabbi, Kohat, Hazara and few more areas where the core language is still Pashto. All major business class and well settled people are Hindko speaking. No one ever claimed to change the name of province “Hindkoistan”. This pain is only with in the ANP to change the name and acquire the royalty of whole province. I had big expectations with ANP when they get elected because they used the term that they will fight for the right of Pukhtoonism and they will stop the killings of Pukhtoons. But nothing happen like this just only by changing the name of province can bring any difference.

This is a dead issue and worth no discussion

I believe that time is now right for the change of name, calling it pokhtoonkhwa is not the best of name as there hazara people and some others that reside in the province who are not pushtton, so am not too keen on this name.

I think the name afghania represents all that live in nwfp, khyber is a just a small area so khyber is not a good name, plus abaseen is a riverland so afghania is best choice and many people prefer that name however due to domestic political pressures etc ANP has moved away from this name.

Afghania in the eyes of bacha khan and rightfully so is from AMU DARYA to River JEHLUM, land of pustoons and other central asian people such as hazara and qazilbash people, all these are related so AFGHANIA is the perfect name.

Name change of province doesnt make any less loyal or committed to federation of pakistan, i feel sometimes eastern pakistanis see this as threat when there is nothing to worry about. However land up to jehlum should be given to nwfp and especially attock as its pushtton land.

ANP is the true representitive of people afghan origins especially pushtoons and should be fully supported by the people of nwfp.

we already have indian agents ruling NWFP, Pakistan embassies around the globe are issuing Pakistani passportrs to hindus...... than why bother with some thing else........your indian masters will be more happy with hindustania?

pukhtunkhuwa is not a good name because ANP is using it as a tool to show its affiliation with afghanistan pukhtun community and to spread the propaganda of greater pukhtunkhuwa. ANP is provoking racism through its propaganda. instead of pukhtunkhuwa or pukhtunistan, other names should be used. btw its not a great issue, its being made by soviet - india sympathisers.

whats wrong in Pakhtoonkhwa when other's names are also sindh, punjab, baloch...

So what about Hazara having 7 million poeple speaking Hindko? and
and plenty of poeple are not pukhtoon in Peshawar, Kohat, Batgram.

why not give a decent and Historical name like 'Khyber' etc.

Afghanistan would have become part of pakistan only if people of Afghanistan decided to that, but Bacha Khan alwlays wanted NWFP to become part of afghanistan gradually because Afghanistan has Pashtoon population and they felt closer to them than Panjab. ANP still down in the heart believe in this and there is not shortage of Pashtoon nationalisits who want to join Afghanistan, they even refer to Balouchistan as South Pakhtoonkhwa.

Is Rustam Shah Mohmand former ambassador of Pakistan to Afghanistan a member of ANP? becuase i saw his interview on Al Jazeera TV during the Swat operation and he was condemning GOP as masacaring Pashtoon population.

And alive in NWFP and pakhtoon parts of Balouchistan. Pakhtoons never have a love for Panjabis who i think comprise majority of pakistan. This idea is also well alive in the heads of Pashtoons of afghanistan(but not other ethnic groups) and pakistan can certainly feel it.

If you've said something like that in 70's it might have been true but now the situation is way too different and the insurgency there is largely internal.The Taliban basically wants to control whole Pakistan and Afghanistan ..not to separate NWFP and merge it with Afghanistan.Yeah i am sure pushtoons dont like Punjabis.No wonder we have very large pushtoon population in Punjab and not only that we have plenty of Pushtoon generals and others army officers who command Punjabi troops.Hell, def.pk's famous Millitary Proffesional Muradk is also Pushtun....i think he was in action against some pushtuns of Afghanistan who were here to invade NWFP in 60's.Despite all this you still think Pushtuns don't want to live with Pakistan?Pushtun population is huge and there might be some people who may want to separate but majority will defend Pakistan without any doubt..but what can we say man..you can continue to live in the fantasy that NWFP will join Afghanistans till the cows come home or Afghanistan is torn apart into several different parts (Tajiks area given to Tajikistan, Uzbek Area to Uzbekistan and Pushtun area to Pakistan's Province Pakhtoonkhwa Haazara) That i think will be best solution for solving WOT issues.

If there was 70s before it can come back again. dont forget that ANP is the party of Great Bacha Khan and they always had their close relations with Pashtoons of Afghanistan, notably Zahir Shah, Najib, Dawood Khan etc, and the symbolic burrial of Bacha Khan in Afghanistan will be there forever.
