Khalj Sultans of Delhi were not Afghans

Khaljis did not conquer Afghanistan and did not have kingdoms and armies. They were simply settlers and had same life style as Afghans (sheep herders, nomads, etc). According to historians of Mahmud Ghaznavi times (Utbi and Gardezi), Khaljis were largely infidels before Sebuktagin.

Khaljis looked different from other Turks (who were Mongoloid) because they were White Huns ;

Mohammad Khwarazmi in Mafatih-ul-Alam (975 AD) says, "The Hayatila are a tribe of men who had enjoyed grandeur and possessed the country of Tukharistan ; the Turks called Khalukh , or Khalaj, are their descendants." (Hayatila is the Arabic and Persian name for the Hepthalites).

Tukharistan (ancient Bactria) was in present-day Northern Afghanistan between Hindu Kush mountain range and Amu Darya. In mid-fifth century AD, Tokharistan became the stronghold of Hephthalites. Byzantine historian of the 6th century , Prokopios, wrote about Hepthalites ; ," The Ephthalites are of the stock of the Huns in fact as well as in name; however they do not mingle with any of the Huns known to us......They are the only Huns who are white-skinned and their faces are not ugly" ......"their territory lies immediately lie immediately to the north of Persia , and their city, called Gorgo, is located near the Persian frontier"......"

By conquering I meant Turks have ruled Afghanistan for centuries, in must of recorded history. Original turks looked like mongols and central asian turks mix of central asian and mongols as we can see and know now about their place of origin. If Khaljis were of turkic origin then we know how their ancestors looked like.

About the original looks of Turks , i recently opened a thread about it on historium forum which i am posting here ;

Looks of Turks in 7th century

From Sahih Bukhari ;

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Turks; people with small eyes, red faces, and flat noses. Their faces will look like shields coated with leather. The Hour will not be established till you fight with people whose shoes are made of hair." https://sunnah.com/bukhari/56/141

Another version from another source (Sunan Nisai) is ;

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Turks; people with small eyes, red faces, and flat noses. Their faces will look like shields coated with leather. The Hour will not be established till you fight with people whose shoes are made of hair." https://sunnah.com/nasai/25/93

Sahih Bukhari was finished in 846 AD. It was probably fabricated in Ummayid period in second half of 7th century and early 8th century in which Arabs were performing poorly against Sogdians and Turk nomads in Transoxiana. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim...of_Transoxiana

Turks were non-Muslims in Umayyad period and it seems some Arab saw those fierce warriors as great enemies of Islam, and came up with the above Hadith, not taking into account the possibility that Turks might convert to Islam in future and might become the leaders and 'muscles' of Muslim world. The hadith might have been fabricated by some Ummayid Arab commander stationed in Transoxiana, to uplift the morale of his troops who had not encountered ferocious and troublesome foes like Turks before. Ultimately Turks converted to Islam. Later when Mongols ravaged Islamic world in 13th century, Muslims also tried to fit the hadith on Mongols but the end time did not happen and most of the Mongols ultimately converted to Islam.

The historical value of the above hadith lies in the description of looks of Turks and their dress in 7th or 8th century. The Turk nomads of Central Asia were indistinguishable from Mongols in looks and they were using cloths and shoes made of hair.

The ahadith mentioned are classified as sahih, so no, they were not fabricated.
