What's new

Khaleda wrote it: Washington Times

lol at your brainfart..................she wrote an article in washington times which calls for more pressure on the govt if it doesnt improve labor rights and we all saw the disaster that happened afterwords........ which supports her point about the lack of worker rights in BD

here we have you, an indian (the last ones who should be talking about foreign interference in BD) comparing her to a guy who asked US to install military puppet govt in PK :hitwall:

Are you blind or something mate?

The article titled “ZIA: The thankless role in saving democracy in Bangladesh” called upon the US and western nations to come forward to ‘save democracy’ in Bangladesh and that they should consider targeting travel and other sanctions.Hasina insisted Khaleda indeed was the author saying, “There is a lot of similarity between that article and her speech today (Saturday).”

Wow a leader of opposition calling on a foreign power to come and interfere in their domestic affairs, amazing!

Hussain Haqqani, Pakistan's ex ambassador to America is facing court trial cause of similar charges. Bangladeshis should drag Khaleda to court and press treason charges on her.

Talk about modern day Mir Jafar!

Well this is the problemo with we the Asians that we invite outsiders to come and kick our booties

.
The BNP have recently made some moronic decisions. I found the book release of Tareque Rahman quite laughable since he had no contribution to it.

OMG! Prince Tareque wrote a book!?:woot:

Name of the book please.

.
If KZ wrote the article or not is not the issue because

1) Nothing written in the article was against Bangladesh interest.
2) Article published in January and GSP cancelled in June. That further proves far fetch Awami propaganda.
2) Asking to pressure genocidal regime and blood sucking business practices are good for people of Bangladesh and poor workers.
3) If US made its decision based on article published in little known Washington Times then Awami League would not have been in power by now.
......

So all those Awami League cheer leading ding dongs looking for Awami direction for jump higher can not mask the fact by deception and distraction circus. And fact is US have had it with

1) Awami league forcing workers in collapsing Rana plaza and killed thousands.
2) Awami League using Rapid (Awami) Battalion, paramilitary force to kill labor leader Aminul Islam. US from secretary of state to all levels had raised the issue with Awami League.
4) Garments owner locking exit points of burning factory killing hundreds.
5) Wholesale workers abuse and slave like attitude of garments owners and Awami League.

There was forensic evidence and witnesses against Hussian Haqqani, judiciary was forced to take the case, but he was released later by judiciary, with due protocol.

I hope, you will let the Bengali predict about who actually wrote the article, and not TROLL about Pakistan.

.
did you read the article..............she asked US and world leaders to put pressure on the GOVT if it does not improve worker rights and political freedom .........

this article was published in 30 january.............. unfortunately our govt didnt heed to her concerns about worker rights and we lost 1200+ lives because of greedy factory owners

Yes, i have read the article and understood that a former Prime Minister, current leader of the opposition in the Parliament, and a probable future Prime Minister of a sovereign democratic nation with a elected civilian Govt. is publicly asking foreign countries to come and directly interfere in the internal matters of her own country, and even asking foreign countries to issue threats of sanctions & withdrawal of certain benefits on her own country. Is it not an example of working against national interest & national pride to secure personal gain? Or in simple words "Treason"?

Or is it that BD's sovereignty and self-respect is only sensitive towards perceived Indian interference, and perfectly comfortable with interference from the masters of the World!! :azn:

Some quotes from the article:

“The United States and its allies, such as Great Britain, have the influence to insist that a caretaker government is instituted so the views of the voters are respected. To ensure this, their words and actions must be much stronger, to keep Bangladesh from slipping away from democracy.”

“They also must explain to Ms. Hasina that general preferences for trade will be withdrawn if those who support workers’ rights and have political views opposed to those of the prime minister are not now allowed to express their beliefs. The Western powers should consider targeted travel and other sanctions against those in the regime who undermine democracy, freedom of speech and human rights. They should say and do these things publicly, for all our citizens to see and hear. This is how the United States can ensure that its mission to democratize the world continues.”

“It is time for the world, led by America, to act and ensure that democracy is saved in Bangladesh.”

Do you understand what the word "IF" implies?

Aminul Islam's murder did bring America's attention, which was one of the reasons for them to suspend GSP.

Ordinarily, a murder in Bangladesh attracts little outside attention, but Mr. Islam’s death has inspired a fledgling global campaign, with protests lodged by international labor groups and by European and American diplomats, including Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. This outside pressure is partly because so many global brands now use Bangladeshi factories. But Mr. Islam also worked for local labor groups affiliated with the A.F.L.-C.I.O., a connection to the American labor movement that has infused his death with geopolitical overtones.

On a side-note, BNP is of very little consequence to US interests.
