As the din from the Opposition benches increased, Abdu Rabb rose to clarify that the principal HM had shown ‘’non-cooperation’’ towards the function right at the time when it was planned. “The principal HM did not make any attempt to receive the VIPs for the function or escort them to the dais. Since she was chairing a meeting of the PTA at the time of the function, the school gates were closed and the security personnel were deployed elsewhere. As a result, I had to wait at the gate,’’ Abdu Rabb said. The explanation further angered the Opposition benches and the Speaker had to make repeated attempts to calm them down. ‘’Even though I had apologised to the audience for arriving late for the function, the principal HM blew the issue out of proportion and belittled the Education Minister in her speech. Such words were unbecoming of the head of an institution which has over 5,000 students on the rolls,’’ Abdu Rabb said.
“The arrogant behaviour of the principal HM had caused discomfort to all those who attended the function,’’ the Education Minister said.
He added that an inquiry by the Additional DPI had found that the principal HM was not capable of maintaining the reputation of the school. The inquiry report, he said, had recommended disciplinary action against the principal HM and the transfer was ordered on the basis of the report.

However, on humanitarian grounds, the principal HM was transferred to a school in the district itself. The transfer is according to rules and is part of the administrative process,’’ Abdu Rabb said.
