No country in the world - please check - gives as much rights to downstream countries as India has given. This is a matter of public record.

India is jumping at the opportunity to scrap it. Next time, Pakistan will not even get half of the rights that it has now. If Pakistan decides to violate the Shimla treaty, India might respond by violating IWT.

Why the surprise? They believe in different outcomes of wars fought, believe they will get India to hand them Kashmir, believe fairy tales about OBL, believe their military didn't know while at the same time calling them the best in the business, believe the Taliban are friendly puppies that only occasionally nip, believe in peace treaties with TTP.......no end, is there?

Your/our reality is simply not theirs(some excepted), it is why i'm extremely pessimistic about any grand deal. Living in an altered reality state simply allows for no jumping onto a different plane. They are winning, you see............

Kashmir is a bilateral issue and will remain so, no third party intervention will be allowed. And even then we have barely anything to talk about it other than deciding the fate of occupied Kashmir under Pakistan's control. I don't see much of a solution here, Pakistan should tone down for next 40-50 years and when everything is calm they might ask for making the LOC an international border, this way they will be able to at least retain a portion of Kashmir. This is the best possible solution for Pakistan.
