Two gunbattles between Indian troops and Kashmiri rebels triggered a new round of anti-India protests and clashes in the disputed Himalayan region on Wednesday which left one civilian dead and at least 100 others injured, police and residents said. Protesters helped rebels escape at one of the clashes.

The fighting erupted after Indian forces raided two villages in the southern areas of Shopian and Kulgam on a tip that rebels were hiding there, and came under fire from them, police said. Residents said troops blasted at least three civilian homes with explosives in both villages, a common anti-militancy tactic employed by Indian troops in Kashmir.

As news of the counterinsurgency operations spread, protests and clashes against Indian rule broke out in both areas with hundreds of people trying to reach the sites of the fighting to save the trapped militants.

Government forces fired bullets, shotguns and tear gas to stop stone-throwing protesters. A young civilian was killed and at least 100 others were injured during the fierce clashes.

In the gunbattle in Kulgam, where most of the injuries occurred, hundreds of residents barraged troops with stones and abuse and forced them to retreat. At least two militants were rescued from the rubble of a blasted home by residents, who celebrated with pro-rebel slogans and cheers, witnesses said.

The gunbattle and clashes involving civilians were continuing in Shopian.

Hospital officials said many of the injured were hit by shotgun pellets in the eyes and were being treated in a hospital in Srinagar, Kashmir’s main city.

International rights groups have repeatedly condemned the use of shotguns against protesters armed only with stones. However, troops have continued using the weapons.

India and Pakistan each claim the divided Himalayan territory of Kashmir in its entirety. Rebels have been fighting Indian control since 1989.

Most Kashmiris support the rebels’ demand that the territory be united either under Pakistani rule or as an independent country, while also participating in civilian street protests against Indian control.

About 70,000 people have been killed in the uprising and the ensuing Indian crackdown.

RAW and MOSSAD are cooking up something in kashmir that might give India excuse to invade Kashmir or launch a Zarb e Azb type Operation.

MOSSAD has mastered art of using Mizrahi jews and embed them as Palestinaian protesters and militants.

Recently ISIS has also tried to branch out into Af-Pak and Kashmir area. Calling itself another ridiculous name.

They might use pre existing notion of Gazwa e Hind to lure youths in and then use that as an excuse to invade/genocide Kashmir.

Well, this slipped out of their hands, pretty fast.

As usual. No surprises.
For a few hundred rupees. There's a reason why their members like hellfire a.k.a vibrio blame ISI for giving few hundred rupees to protestors---chor ki darhi mein tinka.

Traitors exist in every society---the majority came out and protected the people.
There's a reason why thousands flock over from all over Kashmir to attend mujahideen funerals while the funerals of army men from IOK are not attended even by their neighbors.

Its a regular occurrence and a big hindrance towards the ultimate goal, this has helped the occupying forces to invade, settle and strengthen their hold (since 1947). No other people have such examples, Palestine, Afghan, FATA etc.

They have such examples---and in case of Afghan, a lot of them sided with the Soviets and now USA.
There are gigantic traitors in Pakistan as well. Our own Lt Gen got death sentence yesterday for treason.

Indeed it is. Despite the overwhelming majority supporting the movement these days unlike in 65.
And thanks to Musharrafs appeasement policy of allowing India to fence LOC and cracking down on freedom organizations led to the insurgency being crushed back in the day--- appeasement policy continues to this day so Pakistani state is also complicit.

Bigger problem is lack of training and supplies for mujahids. They seek lodging in people's homes as they don't have enough survival skills to hide in the wilderness---hiding in public despite huge military presence is fraught with risks to begin with.
