Karoonjhar Mountains: Commanding Heights

@Joe Shearer @Nilgiri

More maps with the fonts you dislike :-)

Oh look i forgot to use red fonts this time lol :woot:

I don't mind them too much tbh. I have scribbled out a lot worse on world maps and even atlases lol.

It would be a disaster to try using purely field symbols in jackson's valley campaign or spotsylvania. Too much dynamism and close quarter formations involved because of the geography dictating things over and beyond the objectives + tactical command and control etc...

Joe just has bit of issue with contrasting colours etc I think. I will use more plain jane in mine.

No offense, the above scenario is planned by MO Department, headed by DGMO, so you should be addressing the DGMO and not the COAS:D

@FuturePAF , had you asked @Armchair to plan as DGMO, the outcome of this post would have been very different :enjoy:

@Armchair is not taking the piss out of you :partay: You made him COAS instead of DGMO, thats all.

and look what he does when you assign him as COAS :azn:

I don't think he - or most others - will get the subtlety.

Could I ask why every succeeding generation of Pakistani thinks that the previous generations somehow got things wrong, but they can boot Indians hard in the backside and India will cave in?

@Armchair says he isn't Pakistani; he certainly thinks young Pakistani. Maybe it's contagious.

Lols what we did during Kargill war?

You conquered India.

What's new?

@Armchair is linked somehow although he is not Pakistani, i would let him answer this himself. He is very enthusiastic about military planning and is highly educated.

@FuturePAF economics may be taking the scope of this discussion further than warranted for now : ) Let's enjoy this brilliant development by @Signalian

My only experience of swamp land was in Sundarban and in Karachi coastal mangroves. It's just horribly impassable. But Signalian's posts suggests he knows what he is talking about and knows the terrain.

Some random thoughts:

1. Could some hovercrafts be useful in this terrain?

2. How can the PN play a role given that its completely outclassed, outgunned and outnumbered?

3. What would the giant numbers of Indian Marines be doing to counter?

4. Can artillery and support vehicles cross this terrain?

I would imagine that Bhuj has a good amount of Indian weapons stockpiled. So if this succeeds, supply lines may be less important.

Regarding what assets PN can use or spare - I hope someone knowledgeable from the PN can answer that. Do they actually have any landing crafts? We already know how outnumbered and outgunned they are. But, MPT-33 and Azmat class can surely harass Dwarka, even with losses.

What about the mini-submarines that can drop off commandoes? Those could be useful.

Can we really imagine aircover here given the wide assortment of Indian airforce assets in the area? PAF will lose a lot if it tries. But the stakes are high, taking out Bhuj would mean a lot for the air war.

Can an HQ-16 be taken along with Blue force or placed on the mountain? What SHORAD assets can be brought to play?

Overall a really interesting thread and discussion, thanks.

There is no dedicated Indian Marine force.

No, not that much with the colours. It's the size of the fonts that hurts my eyes. I'll 69 this August.

Its a bit of both, not everybody likes to discuss military tactics and strategy.

I asked because I was reading this thread with bated breath, fearful that Nilgiri would come swooping down, laughing a horrible, macabre laugh, and drop a thermobaric comparison of the two economies' GDP on the whole furshlugginer thing. That might deprive an economics professor of his sleep. We can't have that.

Everyone has their thing: Military, politics, economics, religion.....let them breathe in the air they want to however old dog can be taught new tricks.

OK got it, I will make everything pretty legible hopefully. I'm not gonna go too wacky with the colours either (bright red on green etc)....black and white as much as possible with a little dull colour border where needed.

Separate side/detailed maps can be made to distinguish things at better zoom resolution as needed.

I got busy with life. Sorry for that. Seems water passed under this bridge that I missed out on. @PanzerKiel thought you may like this thread.

My favorite Stukas and penzer Mark3/4

isn't is surprising and shameful that the combined arms capability of Stukas and Panzers from 80 years ago has not yet been meaningfully replicated by the PA capability wise? Its such a shame.

The Panzer IV was essentially equivalent to a modern day up armored and uparmed IFV.

25 tons
76mm gun
front and top machine gunners
5 man crew.

It didn't need a massive engine and super thrust to weight ratios of so called modern day MBTs. But it got the job done.

If Pak simply looked to replicate that kind of humble, down to earth capability rather than over the top ego tanks, Pak could actually have meaningful armor. Right now the number of tanks is tiny for the size of the army. 1 tank for every 350 soldiers or so.

A simple tank could have provided armor in numbers that would matter to the soldier. But no. PA won't do that. Just build super AK tanks that cost giant amounts of money and take large amounts of time to build. Cost huge foreign exchanges.

I don't think he - or most others - will get the subtlety.

Joe, I don't expect you to understand as its a paradigm shift away from your own way of thinking. The Muslims are, in their purity, one nation, no matter what our language, race, religion. Nationality is the least of our concerns. They are in fact a western construct. When Muslims were the reigning super power, we had no passports or nationalities o restrict us, we could travel and live anywhere we chose.

I don't think he - or most others - will get the subtlety.
There is another thread where I've outlined what I would do if I were DGMO ;)

I feel more like home here!

Interesting thread, we are talking about Nangarparkar Salient. Keeping in view its vulnerabilities, it is being defended in the best possible manner.

I bumped into this thread and guess what it felt like a dream come true. Really impressed by the knowledge displayed here. I once read a book on an imaginary Indo pak war by Ravi rikhye ,going through this thread brought back its memories.

Nevertheless the Nagarparker salient is an excellent God made feature for artillery, communication and ammunition storage ETC.
