Kargil War hero's book narrates how Indian Army surpised the enemy and won

Pakistan Army demonstrated tactical genius, guts and bravery. No doubt about that.
It also demostrated strategic incompetance and abject failure on part of high command.
Simply repeat of 1965.

If I had it my way I would have sacked every staff officer over rank of Lt.Gen and and the planners of the Kargil fiasco would face criminal charges. Dereliction of duty etc.

Ps. There is something wrong with the PA training and selection of senior officers.

This Lt Gen have nothing to brag about after Pakistan entered India and occupied trenches. An intelligence failure of massive proportions.
I bet to know what was Military Intelligence doing. Where they monitoring enemies communications are not?

Tightening the security = lost the war

TIL by above logic
French lost to ISIS.
USA lost the cold war
China lost to Taiwan

Not tightening, more like not leaving posts vacant anymore, which was lapse in duty for comfort.

Then you didn't catch my post...:disagree:
Yeah I can see mostly trolling in this thread.

Indians here don't even know IA manoeuvring and tactics. Just stomping on patriotism to prove a point doesn't get you anywhere.

dude...make your point...are you saying that IA has to now man the posts and this is the success of Kargil operation or something like that??

are you saying this was not a common practice followed by both sides?
Pakistanis kept a watchful eye through different means. Kashmir border is important to PA.
Indians didn't and don't which is why freedom fighters easily manouvered wherever they wanted, escalating Kashmir struggle in 1990z

Kargil was blunder ,but indians should keep this in mind we will keep coming until we achieve what we want, even Mehmood Ghazni faced 16 defeats before conquering India, thats in our blood's and mind's.

How did the freedom fighters capture indian posts in the first place.

How did they move around freely in Kashmir.

??? what means and why is Kashmir border not important to IA....is it because we miss the paid thugs so we let them in??

On a serious note you are accusing others of trolling...anyways i believe time to say "agree to disagree"....

India could have saved money and precious lives had the Indian Military chosen to blockade the supply route of the opposing force, virtually creating a siege. The issue was that such a move would have involved the Indian troops crossing the LoC as well as initiating aerial attacks on Pakistan soil, a manoeuvre India was not willing to exercise fearing an expansion of war and reducing international support for its cause.
@Abingdonboy @PARIKRAMA what's your opinion?

alright...we will wait for those 16 defeats!!

For rest, comfort, saving resources, winter uniform, logistical burdens etc etc, IA vacated border posts in winters and came back in summers. Vacating post is ok but forgetting to keep a watchful eye for 6 months to let any thing pass through ? Negligence.

slightly wrong...that was plan B...keep in mind it was all in the timeframe....had India not made favorable gains and winter set in then we could have simply said goodbye to our own supply routes and siachen....so yes we went in with harder battle but mobilization of IN was not done just for the sake of it...

oh yeah...it was a massive massive intelligence failure...no denying the fact...it was a big embarrassment!!
