7. A city of having world class international airport terminal
8. A city where one of the biggest film industry are based
9. City having world class hospitals
.....
and the list goes on....

If population,area are the biggest might of a city, then i have to say that Karachi is much bigger city than

1. Singapore
2. Hong kong

Mumbai has spread even further till Virar ; Ambernath ; and Panvel

The point being that it is a continuos Urban agglomeration with People

Bombay is a landlocked city with all kind of natural blockades like hills and islands. Although, interior cities situated in high terrains with typical MSL of ~700metres or above, Bangalore, Hyderabad are better and Bangalore is widening on all sides to become a mega city. What Britishers expected was Calcutta as the biggest city in South Asia followed by Bombay Islands, Madras. But, what is today happening is cities like Bangalore and many tie-2 cities growing fast to be big urban centres.
