On what basis you claim that there is no debate in Bangladesh about economy? Do you follow Bangladeshi electronic and print media? Some days ago you commented on threads about an organization called SANEM raised doubt about GDP growth in Bangladesh. How they were able to do that sitting in Dhaka? Just because, current govt. manipulated the last election does not mean they have turned into mindless beast. There are 30+ private channel in Bangladesh, always hosting BNP spokesperson to discuss about various things. TV channels doing live telecast of BNP leaders criticizing the govt., questioning the legitimacy of it. Awami League govt. has severe allergy if someone insult the Mujib family or delegitimize the govt. in foreign media. But experts are free to find fault in it's handling of various national issues, including economy. They don't mind constructive criticism. Just don't try to steer up the people to make it's downfall. You would be fine.

Mr. Genius SANEM in it's study was trying to correlate GDP data with data of exports and remittance which you can't fudge as it can be cross checked with imports and outward remmitance of other countries.

All these secondary reports relay over data provided by GoB, unless you say Bangladesh is exception where IMF, WB etc. staff personally go and collect own datasets. As pointed out by @Nilgiri, till now Bangladesh wasn't under scrutiny because it's in category of LDC. Let's wait for few more years to see the reliability of GoB's stats when the world start looking at them seriously and put them under scanner.

Let them blab....they are over reliant on one export (that too dependent on freebie 0 tariff handout by the main forex rich buyers), unable to improve their corruption/bureaucracy (to diversify and broaden their economy)...and now its manifesting already as their real household income decline (from all the inflation) and their energy consumption stagnating (at this low level)....among other things.

Then they blab about "being industrially invested structurally from the bottom" blah...all the while they have 2 dollars invested per person outside...and 2 patents a year (at best, normally fat zero) filed at US patent office....while all this inflation goes on reducing the purchasing power of their 95% of people at the bottom. Yeah super strong industrialisation trend there!

Then its really sad when you actually go to ILO and post what is the productivity of BD worker compared to the region....and you realise what is going to happen if BAL corrupt thugs stay entrenched in all institutions that matter that govern actual economic strength in long run.

Some bubbles are best left to explode on their own on their own good time....just like any *insert advanced fighter* acquisition thread for BAF.

In mean time Pakistan must however increase its GFCF by taxing its consumption and balance itself structurally to more local+export production/supply oriented model. Bangladesh blabbing you are right, just ignore them....focus on Pakistan. If you look at export make up of Pakistan currently already...say as far away to European markets.....Pakistan is already exporting manufactured things (like say surgical instruments from Sialkot area) that Bangladesh will not be in next 50 years (given its RMG reliance).

Just need to invest more soundly into your production and workers rather than too much on the large infra focus (that can come later)....so you can scale up volumes of this and diversify in the niche sectors. No need to compare with the puny types reliant on handouts for market access....they already crunching up against their model's ceiling because they can't reform....and soon it will get even worse for them when that handout access is removed....and they are suddenly stuck with only their own awful low brains (they earn worse than haitians in the US for a reason).
