Kalabagh Dam a lifeline for country’s future

there are 12 alternatives to kalabagh..so crying over kalabagh is nothing but an excuse not to build any dams...
its like child wanting to buy corolla 2013 model when corolla 2014, 2015 are there
few examples are
1. akhori
2.sanjwal
3.rotas
4. bhahsa
5.dok pathan
6. bahtar

other than no. 4 all can be built within 4-5 years due to their location and were proposed as alternatives to kalabagh

i am not even talking about the immense potential up stream bhasha

PS.
noone denies kalabagh importance but i can assure even if there is no opposition on dam , it will not be built as evident from info above

@WAJsal A jaahil racist ghusbethya Afghan has declared Kala Bagh Dam harmful for KPK (as if it is more harmful to KPK than Afghan -introduced drugs, weapons, crimes, and terrorism). Similar ignorant comments have also been made by all those who are against Kala Bagh Dam for one or another reason. I will urge you and those who wish to get acquainted with the issue to go through following interview from ex-Chairman WAPDA Mr. Shams ul Mulk.

These are mostly for water storage, all extra money should be spend on Bhasha Dam at the moment. Hopefully by 2030 Bhasha/Dasu/Bunji is completed. After that Pakistan can look for other big projects including more dams for water storage and maybe consensus can be developed on Kala Bagh dam as well.

water will be a bigger issue than power sector soon due to lack of interest

There is a huge trust deficit on KBD unfortunately. As far as I understand the technical studies done almost all of them (even though done quite a while ago) give a favorable recommendation for KBD. For almost two decades since the initial inception of this project we lost millions of rupees on conducting and completing feasible studies by various technical experts/teams which are till date sitting with piles of dust. The impression often projected is "lack of consensus" but in reality it is is lack of technical knowledge about the pros and cons of KBD, moreover there is this select group which always raise the issue of unequal distribution of water but quite amazingly skip the impact of the construction of Baglihar, Kishanganga dams. This select group has been given the task to appose KBD at all costs which win them big accolades from our eastern neighbor.

Before the construction of Mangla and Tarbela Dams Sindh use to get on avg 36 MAF (million Acre Feet) on yearly basis and after the construction of the two, Sindh now gets approximately 43 MAF, with the same token KBD will add approximately 4.2 MAF to the existing (Source: Mr. Shams ul Mulk). In case of Sindh I do agree that before constructing the KBD we need to introduce an efficient water management scheme and upgrade our existing canal systems in order to make sure that we take full advantage of KBD and minumize the apprehensions of Sindh regarding drying it out. Flooding will be controlled by proposed spillways on KBD for active distribution of flood water for quick proper disposal as this is one of the main concerns of KPK (especially ANP).

Unfortunately, this is a prime example of "noora kushti" our politicians are accustomed to when it comes to issues of immense National importance.

Get over it. If it is getting built well and good but as of now don't waste time on it. Start other projects, save your time.

Kala Bagh & Bhasha dam are very important for Pakistan. Pakistan can also be home to world largest Solar energy & Wind mill energy. So much can be done to solve energy crises but corrupt politicians are not sincere with Pakistan one bit on solving energy crises in Pakistan.

We sud have referendum on this issue.. NRO was suitable for every politician then 21st amendment specially for nawaz for his third term, made all politician united like they belongs to each other but when i comes truly for Pakistani people they start threatning to Nation cuz its simply not in their intrest.
1000 dead who cares cuz non of them were their relatives..
Abid sher ali gives a fly F%$^ cuz its not their intrest they will attract voters from metro.
later they divide Proviences so their Gandi Auladain can rule for ever and ever.. Zardari 2 daughters and 1 son half and haf to sind between daughters and one part of blochistan where Gwadar is will go for Bilawal..calculate this between hasan nawaz, mariam, and Shahbaz who marry any girl when ever he wants and have many kids..
anything good for People doesnt work for them..
even if we feed their meat to Dogs they definatily will reject cuz of haram they have been eating.

This is really unbearable, i can't stand it. What's more annoying is that our politicians, Pakistani politicians speak the same language as him. Someone please kill me(figure of speech), i can't bear this level of incompetence. Someone should tell these incompetent, lazy, corrupt, blood sucking monsters that, this dam will further increase water coming into any province instead of cutting of their provinces water.Plus many other advantages like storage, will be a good way to tackle floods, then there is irrigation of land. So many advantages. I mean this is simply unbearable.
“Critics argue that if the dam is built, it would turn Sindh into a desert, but the experts are of the opinion that the province would get additional 4.75 million acre feet of water. Punjab would receive additional 2.04 MAF, Balochistan 1.56 MAF and K-P 2.01 MAF.”
Enough said. This dam will only profit each province, i don't see why they are opposing it in anyway. I am coming to a conclusion that they can't see Pakistan developing.
@Gufi , another prime example of how incompetent politicians in this country are.

rather to stuck with Kalabagh ....it better to construct other dams .... eventually people in KPK & Sindh will realize what mistake they have committed by opposing KB

the cost benefir ratio is the same as kalabagh according to official WAPDA documents. e.g for layman..akhori cost 4 billion dollars(600MW) due to lack of associated electric work and transmission while kalabagh cost is unknown but is estimated at 8-9 billion dollars.
for power production the better lacations are upstream tarbela due to rapid decent of indus and narrow channels, lower cost of rehabilitation.
the cost of rehabilitation in kalabagh is four times that of bhasha(population has much changed since 1960s) , just that cost will make it very expensive

PS. i am highly favorable of kalabagh but should we build a dam which can create more political problems for us?

Only if Bhasha dam is ignored right now which is not happening. Bhasha dam should be completed by 2025.
it is happening , though WAPDA/IRSA says we need 15 MAF ASAP vs 6 MAF of Bhasha
