Antonio AN72 was a closer comparison.
These were supposed to be able to deliver heavy equipment right at the edge of battlefield. The criteria changed after the fall of USSR.
KC390 is a medium lift transport. I don't know what kind of tactical STOL capabilities it has. It may very well be able to do the same function.
