Jordan is planning to upgrade its border security system, according to a notice published on the US Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website on 12 April.

The notice said the US Army Contracting Command is conducting market research into companies that are interested in upgrading the existing Jordan Border Security System (JBSS).

"As early as 2009, Jordan began acquiring technology to protect its northern border. The initial fielding, known as Phase 1, has been fully operational since 2014. Obsolescence and technology advancement now require an upgrade in the form of technology refreshment to the JBSS system," it said.

Improvements are required for 26 fixed and four mobile/transportable surveillance towers, which will require upgrades to 22 Thales Squire ground surveillance radars, as well as delivering 26 new renewable power systems, 25 FLIR HRC-U cameras, 25 CohuHD long-range cameras, and 10 Moog pan-and-tilt units.
