England's Jonathan Trott and Pakistan pace bowler Wahab Riaz were involved in a confrontation before Monday's one-day international at Lord's
The incident was confirmed by David Collier, chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board.
"There was an altercation," he said. "It was regrettable, but it happened.
"We are very fortunate that we have the experience of a neutral man in [match referee] Jeff Crowe, who dealt with it immediately. It is a closed matter."
The incident - described as "fairly minor" by Collier - came on the day England captain Andrew Strauss had to deny his side had lost the third one-dayer in return for money following comments from Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt.
"I think feelings have been high in the last 24 hours. We don't hide behind that, though," added Collier.
"We admit that feelings were strong, so that is bound to spill over."
Riaz was last week interviewed by police as part of their inquiry into alleged spot-fixing.

Pakistan match-fixing claims: tensions boil over as Jon Trott and Wahab Riaz clash

Relations between England and Pakistan reached such a nadir on Monday that both sides seriously considered pulling out of the fourth one-day international at Lord’s.

Telegraph Sport understands that Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan captain, told officials his team would not take the field following an ugly altercation in the nets between Wahab Riaz, the tourists’ bowler, and England batsman Jonathan Trott.
Afridi’s posturing followed a similar stance taken by members of the England team who did not want to play on Monday because of accusations from Ijaz Butt, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, claiming they had been paid to lose Friday’s one-day international at the Oval.

Trotty should be careful enough not to take pangas with a fast bowler and that too a Pakistani. He's gona whack him in the head. :D

Thats why trott was so messed up and sore when he came to bat, he looked like he gona cry any moment. lol

placate him with some fish and chips.....when all else fails, meet him outside in the parking lot when nobody is watching and smack that mug in the face. A true Peshawari-style arse kicking is always in order

lets bet right now Rs 10,000 that Riaz can drop him (in Trotts own turf) after 2-3 solid hooks to the jaw followed. Leave behind a few notes for his cab fare, and be sure to thank his mother for the lovely jacket.
