John Bolton wants U.S. to get tough on Pakistan after fall of Afghanistan

yes they can bark because pak idiot politics always served them if have shwed them middle finger decades ago they never had their fooet in asia

They’ll never sanction Pakistan because they will not want the Afghan situation to deteriorate further. At most sanctions on a few officials like what they did to Turkey, they sanctioned a few government officials and not the whole country. CAATSA is impossible as Pakistan is a designated Non-NATO ally. So at most media articles and political statements.

Go ahead and sanction my azz this is all by irrelevant ppl.. We will bring the dollar down by making Yuan first in that case.. Unbothered

The question is will USA put sanctions on Pakistan? Can they really afford to this after Taliban came to Power in Afghanistan?

@Dailt can they seriously put economic sanctions like Iran on Pakistan at this time?

There are all kinds of plans for other countries too. That is all I will say.
(And I am not a spring chicken myself, just so you know.)

Ok. The only plan that exist outside of what's mentioned here, are plans to "deal" with the situations. Use your common sense Mr. James Bond.
No one's going to grab Russia's 15000 nukes, or UK / French or Israeli stuff or North Korea's stuff without access to that country, or India's 150 weapons. That leaves Iran, the only plan there is, is showing up in Biden's speech and that is to counter them and eliminate the capability by all means whether diplomatically or otherwise. And then, there is this thread!

Short answer and to be honest, there is a high possibility..... and you can thank your neighbor for it and your lack of a really active foreign policy.

So you mean USA will put Iran type Sanction on Pakistan?

If you look at his ugly face, you would think he hasn't been to the restroom for days. He is a war monger, an extremist, someone who wants US to be involved in forever wars to keep the military industrial complex going.

While it is not wise to completely ignore a red neck like him,. But paying too much attention to him is not wise either.

No, not saying that. But the issue is, lack of a very active foreign policy from Pakistan has essentially left the playing field open for your neighbor. See the FATF for an instance. Just like that, if sanctions are applied, how bad can they get, depends totally on your foreign policy. The whole purpose in an active foreign policy is to avoid getting to that point.

Play episode

When he served as national security adviser, John R. Bolton resisted President Donald Trump’s efforts to negotiate with the Taliban. Bolton left the White House on acrimonious terms a week after the president tried unsuccessfully to organize a secret summit with Taliban leaders at Camp David – just before the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks in 2019.

Islamabad and Washington have long had an alliance, but Pakistan's military and intelligence services have been uncomfortably tight with the Taliban. Four presidents have grudgingly put up with this duplicity since 2001 because Pakistan provided supply lines for the United States' military presence next door – and also because Pakistan has an arsenal of nuclear weapons.

In an op-ed for The Post, Bolton makes the case that the time has come to take a much harder line on Pakistan.

Pakistan's national security adviser said in an interview with Josh Rogin that the country wants to be treated like an ally, not a scapegoat.

John Bolton is a neocon and it would be expected for him to be more hardline.

Democrats will try other subversive methods against Pakistan

@Desprado, just look at the masterstroke of Your Patwari King: Nawaz Sharif left Pakistan with, the moron allocated himself to play the foreign minister and how did that play out?? 4 or so years without a proper FM, and now this FAFT BS, which itself is nothing but a political tool is going to be a torn on our side for a very long time unless we make a 'noteworthy' sacrifice that will evidently be detrimental to our national interests, not to mention the $10 billion annual loss to the economy.

But God Forbid if they do than can be ecnomical sanctions like Iran at worst case? Just you experience and gut feeling?

That's a very hard question to answer tbh. It all depends on so many variables. But there is one constant factor that Pakistan should ALWAYS prepare itself to deal with and for the worst case scenario. That is your neighbor.
So don't take such a big economic power with almost carte blanche influence on the West lightly.

Really, O "old and Gold" one? Just so that my bronze mind grasps it, just exactly what is mentioned here in terms of Pakistani nukes by the OP?

Why would you need to secure Pakistani nukes when neutralizing the command is generally an easier path?
