251?
So this is a new batch of Block II, thought 250 would be the highest?

So we shud just go and buy off shelf like arabs do??
No and the fact that you have JFT is the very negation of this idea. However, one needs to be pragmatic. We are in our infancy in aviation industry. There are a lot of hoops to cross and it will take time and money, both of which we dont have, to overcome those obstacles. @AsifIjaz is talking about what essentially is a new platform which requires time, money and resources which we are short on, and capability to design which which we MAY NOT have. So even if we had all of those commodities and the platform took 15-20 years to get to fruition and another 10 years to induct what is the value of such a platform in 2050? If we are 3 billion$ down sunk in the project is this a good use of our money? Lastly how many platforms do we really need----36--40?
So it is important to understand that we need to spend money on worth while projects. This would be a waste of time and money especially for the numbers required.

Blinder, there was talk of building 12/16 additional Block-II to keep PAC production line going till Block-III production comes on line, this is beside the export orders. Thus we will likely see 262 or perhaps 266. The actual number above 50 Block II is posted in here in few of the posts / threads.

If BLK3 is going thru testing or likely going thru it, then its a very well kept secret as no documented picture of it ( by wall climbers ) has been posted. The only one picture that surfaced was dismissed as Block-IIB twin seater.

Hi,

Just look at the Myanmar deal---. Even active air force personal did not know about it---.

At sino defense forum---it was considered like a joke if one talked about the Myanmar deal---.

By engineering standards of manufacturing---if the product that has to come out for production in the next year or so has to be ready at this time and going thru full fledged final testing for production---. There are no ifs and buts about it.

Cool simulation, Is it from JF-17 Simulator? I guess testing Aselpod, what ordinance is it?
I think it is TV guidence of the missile. Not Aselpod, but the camera on the missile. An interesting (underwhelming) example of a target though. Maybe they were trying to emphasise accuracy on a highly mobile target and not the warhead's destructive power

Just a noobish question... how probable is it to form a naval / a strike version of JF17C--- with 2 engines, rd93 or rd93MA,

--- 2 engines requiring wider / redesigned fuselage
--- thus requiring more wing area meaning more hard points
--- may be 1/2 new mid frame or chin mounted hard points for pods / ECM / ELINT
--- redesigned fuselage, wing area and tail thus translating to more space for internal fuel
--- other than the above the aircraft can have similar components like that of block 3 or JF17B i.e. same engine, aesa (KLJ7A with side mounted arrays), same ejection seats, same environment management / OBOG, same arsenal but obviously more mtow.

The above would cost at the very least the same as the cost spent on jf17 in early 2000s but that would be a one time expense. Commonality with block 3 / JF17B will but mean comparatively easier maintenance and lower cost over the life of the aircraft. Pessimistically speaking even a 50% commonality will be a good achievement. We already have ground facilities and maintenance available for thunders hence induction and assimilation would be easier. Compared to the induction of J10, JH7b or any flanker or its chinese clone this factor may turn out to be better suited for Pakistan from an economic point of view. Project Azm via chinese / turkish collaboration can then supplement later thus PAF would essentially be a 3 aircraft airforce (Viper, Thunder and Azm).

The development work can be started in 2020 and can be finished in next 3/4 years PAC is busy with block 3 and jf17B production. The aircraft would be better suited for asean countries and for countries already operating thunders by then. Naval thunders (with naval arsenal) can be based in karachi, gawadar, bholari etc and a couple of units per other squadron can be used as jf17 with limited but (better than block 3) ECM / ELINT capability.

I am sure its doable but is the above possible with the current air frame or design of block 3 or JF17B acting as a base model.
Want u are suggesting is a completely new aircraft with dual engine.
It will be as different from JF 17 as F 16 is from F 15..
